I totally understand this. Like you said seems that most of the boot manufactures are only online which is a real shame. One of my least favorite things to do is buy footwear online.
I think what I was trying to find was someone who has a similar situation in hopes that they already found the...
I would keep an eye on the quality and condition of of the canvas. My uncle has a wall tent that has been used for close to 30 years that still works great, but you have to be very careful with putting the canvas on the frame. The fabric has gotten weak over the years and can rip very easy.
Well I think it's time for new boots. I'm currently prepping for sheep hunting this fall and went on about a 7 mile shed hunt today. The Kenetrek mountain extremes that I've been running for about 3.5 years just aren't cutting it. I have not liked these boots since I got them. After today though...
I really like my bell tent. It is super easy and fast to set up and take down. It also handles wind and snow like a champ and it fits in a large duffle bag(60 lbs). I do have a few complaints though. If I were to do it again I would get a bigger one. Mine is 12 to 13 feet across. I would like it...
So I may be getting ahead of myself but I'm just trying to prepare myself for how much work I may have if I'm fortunate enough to fill a tag.
Also I've got about 60 pages left so I'm sorry if this has been asked before.
What type of weight am I looking at for a boned out sheep with cape and head?
I started seeing sheep in the spring a few years ago and have talked to a few people who hunt it. I listened to one of Randy's podcasts a few years ago that said to just get out and hunt. So that was I've been doing.
Because of that I have been putting in for units that have good draw odds and...
Hello all I just wanted to say hello and share a few pictures. I have lurked here for a while and have been tossing the idea of hunting the unlimited units for a while. I finally decided this was the year. I figure while I am still young and dumb I might as well try to kill a sheep instead of...
Men's small Mystery Ranch Pop Up 28. It's been my wife's day pack. She needed one with more space. Awesome day pack and in great shape. Has a load shelf and is able to fit elk quarters in it. Freshly washed and ready for pick up.
$275 OBO
I don't want to ship so local is pickup around the...
Oh gosh I have another question already 😅.
What should the total trip time be? Like how many days on either side of you drop camp flights. I imagine AK weather changes at the drop of a hat so I want to try to account for that.
Thank you to everyone this is exactly the stuff I needed to hear. I'm probably leaning towards the Kotzebue hunt since I'm looking for an adventure. Probably going to plan it for 2023 so I have more time to plan and save. Thanks again everyone.
Thank you for all of this info. I have a few more questions if you'd be nice enough to answer them?
I saw the Kotzebue unit on Gohunt and saw that it was a very high success rate so it caught my eye. Would you access this unit by flying into Fairbanks and then getting a transporter from there...
Hey all asking for some help on planning a possible drop camp Caribou hunt.
A DIY drop camp Caribou hunt is currently my dream hunt, but planning a trip is a tad daunting. I'm not sure exactly where to start.
I know that traveling from the the lower 48 to Alaska isn't the cheapest hunt in the...
