    What to do with a Hog?

    Meateater has a few episodes on butchering, processing and recipes. I’ve only killed 1 here in TN. Made pulled pork roasts from the hams and shoulders then ground the rest. It was pretty good.

    Hunting Gear Thats Punches Above its Pricepoint

    Zeiss conquest 3-9*40 MC scope. They were $299 new a few decades ago. Now they go for around $400 on eBay and GB. I have 3 of them and the glass is still incredible! Brighter and lighter than my VX5 and and vortex scopes. Also the Zeiss Terra binos are way above others at their price point.

    Bolt Action Rimfire

    Don't overlook the Browning T-bolt. Excellent accuracy and has a longer barrel and larger stock than some mini 22s like a 10/22. It's a great transition rifle for younger shooters.

    Cartridge for 18" barrel?

    Don't forget the 7mmWSM. Dies are available and while brass may not be, you can resize 270/300WSM brass which will be much easier and cheaper to find than SAUM brass. Not sure why the 7WSM didn't catch-on like the others, but I think it definitely fits all your criteria points.

    Caliber suggestions.

    I suggest you check out a Barrett Fieldcraft in your choice of short action cartridges. Also a Sako Carbonlight. If hunting coyote and smaller the majority of time I would pick a 223 or 22-250. Pick up some heavier 62-75gr Federal Fusions, Swift's, or other softpoints for deer.

    Favorite reloading powders for hunting

    RL-22 for the 270, 7RM, and 30-06. Varget for 5.56. Going to experiment this summer with some magnum for 150gr TTSX in the 7RM.
