I just had a lengthy discussion with the Region 7 captain. He also said no. Keep in mind that a sheriff or district attorney might have a different opinion than a warden especially if you show up with six plates like I’ll be sporting out east in a few weeks. -

In Montana, it needs to be a Class I river and you have to access using a boat. Bambi, you can find a list of the 10-15 class I rivers in Montana with a quick Google search. I don’t think you’re allowed to hunt big game within the high water mark adjacent to public land so don’t dump a deer on a... -

Yellowstone River from Billings to Glendive
Either fish below Huntley for the above mentioned fish or upstream of Livingston for trout. Please don’t waste your time fishing around Billings. If you do, keep an eye out for abandoned needles...- mdunc8

Beartooth Car Camping
Thanks for the recommendations. We spent the first night up by Lily Lake but got pushed out by a bunch of cattle. Headed up Lulu Pass after that, which was beautiful and loaded with moose.- mdunc8

WY Green River
Spent a few days camping and fishing up there with the family a few years ago. There are definitely worse places in world The fishing in the upper Green was good. Nothing big but a lot of cooperative fish. -
