I suppose I should have added that will be reloading and have all 30 cal stuff other than brass, already have a 243 for the light work. Would hopefully be reaching out to longer ranges 6-800 at the range but have learned my lesson on effective range while hunting.
In the market for a new rifle. Deer, elk and potentially moose/bison if I ever draw a tag. Western hunting with ranges out to 500 yards. I'm a bid dude and can tolerate recoil well but don't want to get too crazy. Think I have settled on a bergara ridge wilderness in 300 prc. Any deep thoughts...
Still here, just reading and thinking. Interesting to see some many different views and expectations. I end up feeling that overall we have great opportunities in this great state. Edison once said opportunity is often overlooked because it wears overalls and looks like work. The challenge is...
I suppose we could all try to evaluate mtfwp and decide the quality of management and sources of said deficits. Capital is always a good strategy to address deficiencies. Sure, some waste will always be present but that isn't a reason to underfund an agency that is a vital part of management.
I hear a lot of complaints regarding mtfwp management. I think that resident cost for permits doesn't match value provided. You may feel differently. I believe non resident cost is reflective of value for an our of state hunter to pay the privilege to come to montana to hunt. If we raised...
Im a home health nurse in sw Montana and every now and again you see a beast like this. Killed in the late 60s on land that was homesteaded generations ago and still allows random ppl to hunt to this day.
Hammsolos by Bro: looking for any real suggestions. Not a full blown plan but a direction to start exploring. Up for damn near anything and willing to put in the work to escape the crowds.
I live in butte. Try above the prison ranch by Deerlodge. Mule deer is a draw permit but may have some whitetail in the bottom. Elk consistently there, just whether they are on the right side of the fence is the question.
Have carried multiple calibers over the years when rifle hunting. Honestly, unless you need predator protection it's just added weight. Carried a 44 mag and never used it, stupid heavy. Carried a ruger mk3 22 and never needed it, carry my grandfather's colt 32-20 now just for sentimental...
Currently no but next rifle definitely will. Hearing protection is mandatory either way. Totally down for suppressors bur cost and regs are ridiculous for a can.
