If you want to support some folks working on sportsmen issues, like better access and improved habitat in Wyoming, check out the new Spoon and Crockpot Club shirts we have for our Fall Fund Drive at the Wyoming Wildlife Federation. Plus, any donation gets you a chance at your choice of a...
All good man! Same to you. And thanks for starting this conversation on here. Good to see it in more public forums because, as you said, the public has been damn near non-existent in these conversations. See ya in July! 👊
What am I? Chopped liver?! 😉
To be fair, I was on the clock to be there.
Personally, I was surprised at how interested in making good recommendations the team was. Quite the statement to put Rusty Bell (Taxidemist/County Commiss, Gillette) and Josh Coursey (Muley Fanatics, Green River) as...
You can say that again. 😬 I'm working on some communications to get more average-joe DIY residents in attendance. If you have ideas, shoot me an email. [email protected]
Absolutely agree with you there! The Federation wasn't really ever asked why we didn't support the bill, but put on blast by ol Mtn Pursuit. It surely wasn't because we don't want 90-10 but because it was a poorly written bill.
We (myself included) will be at the Wildlife Task Force meetings to...
It's something we definitely think about. Simultaneously trying to help people enjoy hunts, while not reducing opportunities for others is tough. The Wyoming Wildlife Federation views it as more people care about wildlife populations, the more critters we can put on the landscape, and the more...
Man, I appreciate that! I totally agree. I wish I had speedgoat hunting like Wyoming does when I was growing up chasing mulies in Oregon. It's just such a good experience, even on the relatively tough access hunts. It's kind of the focus on what I've dug up for the conversation tomorrow.
Hey all!
As part of my work with the Wyoming Wildlife Federation, I am hosting a live tag application Q & A for nonresidents applying for deer and antelope in Wyoming starting at 6:00 PM TOMORROW night.
I'm first going to do a brief overview of how the system works, but mostly I want to spend...
Here you go! https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Public-Access/Walk-In-Hunting
Click on the WIA you're interested in and download the rules beforehand. That's always safer to check than not.
No need to sign in or anything. Just make sure your WIA is open during the time you wanna be there and for the species...
Which is currently how it's funded. 🤔
He's anti-fee, which I am on principle, too. But the Federation surveyed members and 75% would be happy to pay the increase for access. 24% said they wanted more info. Only 1 person said no. It seems like it's a worthy increase.
HB 122 just made it through first reading of the House, but still has a long row to hoe to become a reality.
It increases the Conservation Stamp by $9 to create consistent funding for the AccessYES! program - the thing that administers Walk In Areas and Hunter Management Areas.
Check 'er out...
Oh man. Only deer?
I have found myself hunting steeper canyon country in Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon for deer. So, I'm thinking the Hells Canyon Armory Mountain Killer Rifle (6.5 lbs bare rifle with carbon barrel, Ibex stock, trigger tech, etc.) chambered in 6.5 PRC...or maybe 28 Nosler...
Yep! Reducing population and reducing buck numbers.
The golden-boy units in Colorado for this are like 7, 8, 9, 191 where prevalence has decreased since the early 2000's.
