yup one of my favorite elk chasing areas is on the docket to get a major hiking trail moved into in - not happy about that but at least so far they haven't gotten the funding to get started (y)- WoodMoose

Blood tracking dog
most any dog can learn to blood track, it's one of the easier skills to train a dog to do (in my opinion),,, no need to get a high dollar one then each track they get better and better, more attuned to the job and can work older and older tracks- WoodMoose

I'd go that route before going bacon route - but I'm not much for using red meat for pork meat items (I'm funny that way) now bear to me works well for a pork replacement (bacon, sausage, etc)- WoodMoose

Mule deer Sausage
I made some brats out of a feral pig from TX. Turned out similar, dense and not as "juicy" as it didn't have normal fat levels (and I didn't add any) but the taste was excellent - my youngest daughter really liked them- WoodMoose
