    yup one of my favorite elk chasing areas is on the docket to get a major hiking trail moved into in - not happy about that but at least so far they haven't gotten the funding to get started (y)

    most any dog can learn to blood track, it's one of the easier skills to train a dog to do (in my opinion),,, no need to get a high dollar one then each track they get better and better, more attuned to the job and can work older and older tracks

    I'd go that route before going bacon route - but I'm not much for using red meat for pork meat items (I'm funny that way) now bear to me works well for a pork replacement (bacon, sausage, etc)

    I made some brats out of a feral pig from TX. Turned out similar, dense and not as "juicy" as it didn't have normal fat levels (and I didn't add any) but the taste was excellent - my youngest daughter really liked them
