That is the case for us. The idea of getting cow tags is great but our main goal is to have a quality archery hunt so the only benefit would be getting to know the geography of an area at a different time of year and possibly a long ways from where we would end up hunting.

I was googling venison jerky recipes this fall and one of the top responses was a recipe on here by @Bambistew . I started it in the smoker but finished it in the oven and would say it's as good as I've ever had.
Copied from "ISO The Ever Elusive Perfect Venison Jerky Recipe" thread since I...
That is a consideration! I personally might be willing to apply for Special tag before I get any older but my oldest son would not be able to afford it with a young family.
Unfortunately it was only 76% chance last year with 12 points for Regular tag and I imagine that the increase in Special tag costs will increase the points needed.
The two oldest boys and I have been buying Wyoming points for 11 years and honestly wish we had used them last year given the increase in cost of the Special tags this year but we didn't as we had a lot of hunts already planned. We want to at least apply for tags this year as none of us expect...
Mortgage is paid off and no other debt currently. Truck is 10 years old with 198,000 miles but the thought of having to borrow money to replace it is unappealing!
Cool bull! I archery hunted it in 2018 and saw over 40 bulls with only one being really big. Congrats on having success! I've never hunted another state for elk but I can only hope that there are a lot of tags that are much easier to draw that are as good or better.
I saw that they get a number but it’s not included in randomized pool people online are seeing. This explains how Diamond Creek A sold out of 466 tags before our numbers even dropped 300 places I think.
It seems like they could at least require people to log in to their account to get in line and do away with all the multiple device nonsense. A draw would be better though! A system that breaks up families hunting together sucks.
Once I have enough meat in the freezer the urge to kill another big game animal goes away for me. I still get out and look for grouse and scout for next season but I have no desire to kill just to be killing and have to find someone to take the meat.
