I shoot a 33” ata Hoyt Carbon Spyder ZT Turbo with 6” brace height and I would not want to go any shorter ata and I will look for something with a longer brace height when I’m in the market. It’s one thing to develop consistency in ideal conditions but the one shot that really matters is rarely...
The ODFW Commission just voted to make no changes to the Oregon Wolf Plan until 2028 at least other than they want less wolves killed due to depredation. Portlanders elect the Governor who appoints the Commission members and also tells the agency directors what to do. I hate to be so pessimistic...
That is pretty much what we are dealing with here on Oregon. I see no path politically where we end up having even a meager hunting season for them here. They are already causing a ton of damage to livestock and the state is spending millions of dollars scrambling to deal with them but no...
We have plenty to spare!

Congrats! Bummer she missed the coyote but at least he definitely knew he'd been shot at. That thing was covering some ground! Thought he might pass up the antelope...
I'm in the same boat. My current bow is coming up on 9 years old (which is hard to believe!) and I can shoot it well if I have been shooting consistently and I'm shooting target tips. Once I switch to broadheads any little change in form and things go to heck. I would like to find a bow that is...
Not sure where you are getting those numbers but from the ODFW statistics the success rate in the Wilson for 2022 was 10% for first season and 6% for second season. The number of hunters in the Wilson Rifle hunt dropped about 10% while number of bulls harvested dropped 25% so I have to disagree...
This thread is about rifle hunting and I am looking at rifle season numbers.
The rifle harvest in the Wilson in 2020 was 195 bulls (first season) and 55 spikes (second season) for a total harvest of 250 bulls. 2022 it dropped to 153 bulls (first season) and 51 spikes for a total harvest of 204...
In Tillamook County they have substantially reduced the elk population. A lot of the problem is the fact that the Forest Service hasn't done any clear cutting in 30 years so the available habitat in the National Forest is dwindling causing the remaining elk population to end up in dairy farmers...
It sounds like the OP of this thread moved on to a different hunt but I will share what I can about the hunt in question for anybody who stumbles onto this thread in the future.
Unfortunately with most of the state being controlled hunts for elk these General Season Roosevelt hunts have become...
We use it a lot to make enchiladas, carnitas or just nachos. It's also really good added to a lot of different soups.
I decided to try browning some this fall prior to canning and I like it better than my old cold pack method. It is a bit more work but I think I will be doing more of that in...
My wife and I were walking an old road with the dog last January. My wife liked this stretch and took a few pictures to possibly paint later. At this point Toco was acting like she saw something but we didn’t see a thing. Later my wife was looking back through her pictures and several had this...
I’m in the same boat. 2014 Tacoma with 198k and it’s never missed a beat but at some point you have to wonder. It’s been the best truck I’ve ever owned and would just as soon not have to move all my stuff into a new one but don’t want to get stranded either. Hopefully it’ll stay strong until...
Both times we have antelope hunted we did just that. The first time was Antelope Unit 53 and we spent a couple days up in the Medicine Bow NF which would be elk area 21. It is a General Elk hunt and the amount of hunters seemed comparable to what we see here in Western Oregon during general...
