Good point. Perhaps the local county personnel has ties to the ranch it crossed and since it was likely obvious I wasn't local. While I'd like to hope that doesn't happen, unfortunately, I believe it does.
Yep, I found out not all gas tax roads are public roads. In 2020 while sheep hunting in the breaks with a buddy, I had a map of gas tax roads. There was one road that accessed a corner of BLM and would have been a great access point. I called the county office to confirm and was told it was...
I have their credit card and have nearly $1k to use on whatever. I just can't seem to find that whatever to spend my $1K on. Does anyone know if I can use it on a gun?
How big is it? Does it come with an internal frame? All canvas or hybrid with the nylon? That seems like a really good price if it's in good shape. As stated above, look for what might possibly be mold from putting away wet. Holes, tears that could rip further in high wind. Check the seams...
About 10ish years ago I was camped on USFS land in a spot I'd camped dozens of times in years previously. A man stopped by our camp to chat. He said the spot was permitted for the season to the outfitter that had the permit for the area. And, if the outfitter came up, I'd have to leave. I...
I haven't had it happen yet but have only canned maybe 30 jars of meat. My pressure canner has a rack on the bottom so the jars don't sit directly on the bottom. I have to assume the rack is somewhat of a preventative measure for jar breakage? Not entirely sure though!
Within the last few years, by the time the season ends here in Montana, I'm pretty fed up with the lack of animals and poor public land hunting here and I say I'm gonna quit.
Here's how I imagine day 1 goes on both sides.
Newly Elected: Eager to get started and get to work!
Party Leadership: Shut up rookie!, Sit down and let me tell you how this works!. You do what I say, vote how I say, don't ask questions. Failure to comply will result in you not being here...
I spent a fair bit of time trying to develop a load for my 243 with the 90 grain Hornday CX. Got some interesting pressure spikes at the low end of the powder charges with H4350 and H4831SC and never found anything that good so I gave up on them for now. The 150 grain CX are shooting great in...
@44hunter45 Thanks for that info, especially about the 7/16 hex bolt. I guess I'm still not sure why the stuck case tool hasn't really worked for me. I put the die in a bench vise, carefully drill the primer pocket out, use the 1/4 x 20 cutter, then the bushing and slowly turn the bolt. 4 of...
I've been reloading for about 10 years now so by no means would I consider myself an expert. Thankfully I've only had 5 stuck cases in the couple thousand rounds and several cartridges I've run through. I have one of the RCBS stuck case removal tools but it's only worked one time. I've...
Late to the party but my experience with them on 5 deer, 4 antelope, 4 elk with 7mm 131 HH and 143 HH and 152 grain 308. Small entrance holes, small exit holes and overall not much for a blood trail. Love the accuracy and lack of blood shot meat but worry some of the animals could easily have...
Did you try the 90 grain CX or the 80 grain? I bought a box of the 90 grain CX for my Savage Axis 243 and haven't gotten it dialed in yet. Had some really odd results that I haven't figured out. The 90 grain ELDX shoots great behind H4831SC. Even though I know better, I tried the same load...
Was hunting yesterday and couldn't get my tracking to work. Using an offline map. The GPS showed red, track showed red. When the screen went dark, the track stopped as well. Also when I tried to stop the track it wouldn't. Only way was to shut down, start back up and discard the track...
