I love the simplicity, weight and sharpness of havalon and that's what I have carried for the last several years. At first, I broke blades but now can disassemble an elk with one blade easily.
That being said, I love a good knife. I have 4 Ruana knives with an original M stamp I got in 1981...
My favorite way to use canned meat is cream of mushroom soup, packet of gravy. Stir in meat. Pour over noodles like stroganoff. I have a better venison stroganoff recipe that is better but the canned meat version is quicker. Also like it in spaghetti and enchiladas.
I've used a lansky for 30ish years and really like it. I bought a works sharp Ken onion edition a few years ago. Apparently I haven't quite figured it out yet. I feel I can get a sharper knife with the lansky in far less time. For my steak knives, I just use a pull through style that suctions...
Thanks. I'm aware of that and have switched to all copper in seversl other guns. Currently using 150 grain cx in my 280AI after using Hammers for 4 years. In the 280AI I started at min load with no issues. With the 243, the last load was 2 grains below book minimum and still over pressure...
I've only been reloading 10 years now and no expert by any means but I've reloaded for 12 different guns now and feel I have a pretty good understanding. This year while I was doing some testing with 90 grain Hornady CX bullets and H4350 in my 243. I looked at Nosler, Barnes, Hodgdon, Hornady...
My roulette wheel mind has been on a truck upgrade for the last 6 months. Currently have a 2016 RAM 1500 with 95k miles that has zero issues. Problem for me is I've settled on wanting a new chevy 2500 diesel. Basic custom or LT models are near $67k on the low end. I hyperventilate at the...
In Montana, a decent 5 point mule deer that was a dime a dozen 20 years ago but now as good a buck as you're likely to see. While I'd like to say I wouldn't shoot it, as I've shot several bigger, I probably would if I was strictly hunting for mule deer in a general unit.
It's not on your list but I'd give the 160 grain CX a try if you can find some. I loaded some 150's for my 280AI this year. On an antelope, 2 WT and raghorn bull, I was happy with the performance.
@Bigjay73 thanks. I really appreciate it. Good luck to you on your recovery. I’m newly retired and when I can start PT, that’ll be my only job for however long it takes.
Morning day 5. Don't necessarily like the feeling of full dose of pain meds and thought, since the pain tolerable, I backed off on them. I think that was a bad idea and more pain this morning than yesterday. Since I'm a side sleeper and really don't sleep well on my back, sleep hasn't been...
After dealing with lower back pain for years, I Would routinely go to the chiropractor. In 2017, I was recommended a book called "Back Mechanic" by Dr. Stuart McGill. Do some reading about him, listen to some of his videos and consider his book. My back issues have been very minor since and...
I don't grind my own stuff but just put it in a bag and take it in for sausage meat or grind into hamburger. It takes me 3 hours to process a deer and 7 hours for an elk. I do the elk in 2 days as my back feels pretty destroyed after 3 hours.
I've always wondered the same about trimming...
Wasn't sure i still had it. Havent used this in probably15ish years. @EKYHunter I have a left hand but I don't think it's the D loop version though. Might be a large but not sure. I did cut the velcro strap down so there was none hanging. Cover shipping and it's yours. Pm me your address.
I've tried many of the top brands and the reality is you have to just spend the money and try different ones to see what your feet like. If they don't work, sell them for whatever you can get and try another pair. I've tried many of the top brands and some feel good out of the box but not so...
Go griz! This sure has the makings of a great game. Both defenses are stout. I think the cats offense is slightly better than griz offense though and may be able to put up more points. In the end, I hope the "POOOOOORRRR BOBCATS" cheer is loud.
