Spot: more difficult when it’s actually raining, but the cool air keeps them on their feet a bit longer. Also make it more bearable to stay out and glass real hard. If it isn’t actively raining it’s much better this time of year.
Stalk: if you have a deer spotted and it starts raining, go like...

I got some general help from people on this site (including Big Fin) when I got this same 20 year NR draw tag off of FCFS 2 years ago. You will have a good time
The scope performed very well in the limited time I used it this weekend. Love the lighting, and the hand adjustable turrets made zeroing and adjusting the rifle on the range easier than any other scope I have used. I’ll have more when I stretch out to longer ranges
Overall, I was very happy with the gun in the feel, accuracy and ease of shooting. I can’t wait to line up some longer shots on steel and see what it can do before my hunts this fall.
Before we left, I dialed up a quick 380 yard shot uphill just to check my ballistics at a slightly longer range. Dialed up 4 MOA and took aim at what I estimated to be about an 8-inch rock. Took these screenshots from the video, a near bullseye.
Finally got around to taking the rifle out last weekend and shooting it for the first time.
Feel and operation: ammunition cycled very well, no jams or feeding issues with the 25 rounds I shot. I did notice that I had to firmly press the bolt forward when loading in order to roll the bolt down...
Mature 6 point is a stretch but not impossible. Find the little areas that are just far enough from the roads to maybe get overlooked, and if you don’t see fresh sign move on ASAP.
Shoot the first mature bull you see even if it isn’t a 6 point. You might get away with passing a few rag horns...
So far, I love the ease of adjustment. It’s all done by hand no tools required. Elevation and windage adjustment are very firm which I like. 20 MOA in one full dial rotation is another plus. The illumination is also very easy to manipulate and turn on/off and adjust brightness
It seems pretty...
Update: finally decided on a scope for it. Wanted to stay lighter and found a lot of good research on Trijicons over at RS.
Decided to go with a Trijicon 2.5-15x42 Credo HX with Talley lightweight medium rings. Don’t have a scale but the whole unit weighs less than my Hells Canyon LR in 6.5...
Took this after 2 weeks deer hunting. Before my Pitties, I couldn’t grow any facial hair. Now I still can’t grow any facial hair but at least I have sick shades that block out the haterz
I’m the same. I won’t be selling or tossing my Leupold stuff, but I want my dollars that I spend going forward to go to companies that don’t appear to prioritize profit/marketing over values conducive to the future of public hunting and wildlife in North America.
Resurrecting this thread again looking for opinions:
I am trying to move into a “vote with your wallet” phase lately. I have used and loved Leupold hunting scopes my entire life. I love that that are American made and have a good warranty, along with a solid track record for me (although not...
Bought my parents one for use under their outside covered area. They absolutely love it, and I will be purchasing one for myself for future use.
It can also put out plenty of heat if you get it cranking. I highly recommend one for the application you are asking about
I never said it was. I said it wasn’t effective. Of course it can be done, but if you shoot your bow with a release, you shouldn’t expect to be nearly as effective with your bare hands. I don’t care how much you practice it, there are significant differences in arrow flight and aim point that...
Didn’t your mama ever tell you that just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should?
If you are a self deprecating masochist then WA OTC elk hunting is the place to be
