There will be pressure. The only way to really minimize pressure on mule deer here would be to go LE everywhere. But we don’t want to do that yet. At least it would likely result in lower success rates since guys that don’t even know how to tie their own shoes can’t blast forky with its nose up...- huntin24/7

I don’t really see any bad points. If anything, it could provide even less opportunity given the state of herds in both species for the majority of the state. It’s a really nice compromise of opportunity for hunters, potentially spreading out pressure, and giving deer herds more of a fighting...- huntin24/7

It was a fun hunt and I enjoyed spending time in that country. That being said, it is far from a trophy unit, and it has gone downhill as far as quality since I was there in 2018. Enjoy the country and have realistic expectations.- huntin24/7

It spreads out pressure at least to some degree. Also, if you have more archery only guys, there should be less deer being taken(archery success rates are generally much lower) while still providing ample hunting opportunity for everyone.- huntin24/7

I agree with you. I’m not trying to make more opportunity for bow hunters. There’s plenty. Just trying to come up with ideas to spread out pressure and make season structure changes work. Maybe it’s a dumb idea. Was just a thought.- huntin24/7

Haha! I definitely get why people wouldn’t want to shoot a zebra. I hunted Africa in 2012 and would easily take western big game over it any day. We certainly have our share of issues with resident hunters. I’m hopeful this will be a good committee of conservation minded resident hunters. From what I’ve seen as far as non resident hunters in eastern MT, I wouldn’t say the rest of the country has much to brag about either. Lol- huntin24/7
