    Public Land Stand Options

It isn't the worst base to hunt, but I can see why you might have an issue with stand getting stolen. I still think you might be safe with a ladder, but the outdoor folks probably wouldn't want to endorse it and then have some creative PFCs figure out how to get it off the tree....

    Benchmade knives?

BLUF: the Bugout is an outstanding knife to carry in your pocket. I have been issued a couple of those Benchmade Autos over the years and they were decent, both broke, but that was due to them being used pretty roughly, prying, etc. They were the 154CM steel. I currently have four...

    Public Land Stand Options

Army. I have found the best way to negotiate with RC is with a case of beer. Stealing a ladder stand would take some commitment and prior planning. If you don't mind me asking, what post are you hunting?

    Public Land Stand Options

Have you talked to range control (or whoever administers hunting) on post? They might be able to make an exception for leaving a stand if it isn't permitted.

    Public Land Stand Options

I hate to say it, but if you can't handle either of those options physically, a ladder stand is not going to help you unless you can get someone to put it up with you, and then you can leave it setup on post.

    Bourbon Connoisseurs

I have seen some Sweet Wheats out in the wild recently. 1792 is way underrated IMO. If you like wheaters, check out the Maker's 46 Cask Strength. It is great, and I am not a big wheated fan.

Interesting, I think their bourbon has gotten got better. I wasn't a huge fan of the American Prairie stuff, but tried the new one with the bighorn on the label, and thought it was better. I attributed it to switching to their own distillate, but maybe I am wrong. I am interested to try the...

    Bourbon Connoisseurs

I am an OF fan. have 1870, 1897, 1910, 1920, and have drank Statesman. Have a couple of their SBs too. 1910, 1920, and single barrels are in a different class than the rest of their line. If you like a little higher proof give the 1920 a try. If you are a fan of waffles and maple syrup, 1910...

This may be the bottle I look for hardest each year. That stuff is still like $140 a bottle right???

The 16yr is not much more expensive and is noticeably better than the 15 (the 15 by no means bad either).

    Bourbon Connoisseurs

Russell’s has some of the best bourbon values available right now. I can get their 10 year all day for $33 at Total Wine. I’m not aware of any other 10 years for even twice that price. Check out Coopers Craft barrel reserve 100 proof. IMO, better than Russell’s 10 or ER.

Price isn’t the best indicator of a good bourbon. There are some great $30 bottles that will destroy some of those bottles that demand the huge prices. BT is a pretty good $25 bottle, and that’s about it. The bottle below cost me about $50, and it is better than most things on my shelf. In fact...

That makes sense. If you need any peer pressure to get the job done, just let me know. I think the hard part is if you want your top end magnification in that 15-18 range, there are very few options these days without a turret. The Swaros do look nice. So does this one...

Do you carry a pistol for bear when elk hunting???

This ^ If you are confident in your ability to hit a charging bear in the CNS, while your body is simultaneously dumping every ounce of adrenaline it has onboard into the system. It is only because you are ignorant. For most people, flat range work really only serves to build hubris versus...

Are solid copper bullets considered to be FMJ for hunting purposes?

I know GA deer are kind of dinky, but the deer aren't that much bigger in KY. It looks like you are picking bullets for shooting moose or something. If I were you I would do my shoulder and pocketbook a favor and try something like this: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1001616368?pid=734531
