    Smartphone battery life for hunting

    I have an iPhone 6s and use OnX. It was fantastic last year. My battery life isn't great either, but if I kept it in an inside pocket(on airplane, other apps off) I could get 1.5 days. I also bought an Anker charger and it worked great.

    Tikka or X-Bolt

    I have an X-Bolt Hell's Canyon and love it. Have you considered a Remington 700 AWR? Its got the 24" barrel, good stock, cerakote, and its under 7.5 pounds. Looks like you can pick one up for about the same price or a little more than the Tikka or X-Bolt.

    Elk only - 7RM Elk mostly - 7RM Deer mostly - 270 Deer & antelope only - 243 I threw in the 30-06 just because its so versatile and could easily replace any of the other three I listed.

    What's your elk rifle and cartridge?

    Browning Hells Canyon Speed in 7rem mag. I used factory 140gr Barnes TTSX last fall, I’m hoping to get a handload developed using the 139gr LRX. If that doesn’t work I’ll probably try out some Hammers.

    I used my grandpa's Ruger 30-06 for several years. It shot well enough with partitions and I harvested a few animals with it. Two years ago I decided to switch to all-copper and I tried several different brands & bullet weights but couldn't get it to shoot a decent group at all. So I saved up...

    I put in for a "glory tag." No real hope of drawing but there is enough decent general areas I'm not to concerned if I don't draw. Maybe someday I'll actually get one...

    I really don't like the idea of taking away those opportunities from youth. I've never drawn one of those tags, but I would gladly give up any tag I might draw if my boys could get one.

    using different bullet weights in the same rifle.

    I'm working towards one bullet per caliber/rifle, I gotta get out on the range and see if my rifles like what I'm providing them. 139 gr Barnes LRX for my 7RM and a 80 gr Barnes TTSX for my 243. If these don't work my next try will be Hammers.

    I got a response from Rep. Tschida the other day. It makes no sense to me. Here it is, "Be assured that the outcome of HB 161 will be more and better public input. The Human Dimensions Unit may be working to further a less than positive promotion of hunting, trapping, and angling." ?
