New Product Idea - Shooting Stick Platform - PoleX

This is good feedback. I still haven’t got mine out to use yet so I can’t say for sure, but the fact that you have to separate the two halves to change angle is my only concern for now but for me it might be that I’m just so used to my old Stoney Point sticks and this really isn’t an issue. In...

    SOLD

That old of a Savage 110, might be a long action even for the .223. I think the screw spacing for a long action is just over 5”.

    HT recipe thread.

It was quick and easy. That cast iron is some cheaper off brand we got when I got married. My family uses it for everything. Makes a heck of a chocolate chip cookie too! 🤣👍

    HT recipe thread.

Thanks for the bread crumb trail of recipe posts @JohnCushman. Great idea! I think this post might take over the over two (smoker and plate)over time! I’m terrible at remembering my recipes but I often wing it on meals. But, per a @mtmuley request: My egg bake on the smoker: Well bacon...

    Still Kicking!

There seems to be a few blurry screens in here today over a dog most of us only knew through your words and adventures Hank. Those words truly told the story of your bond and friendship with Rio! I hope the next few weeks are filled with all the good memories of your adventures together.

    Hunting For Memories Back Home

I watched it on FT+ a few weeks ago. Loved the episode. I have some ties with people in that community and hunted with family a bit south of there. The stories and the feel of deer camp resonates the same for our group as it showed for yours. Lots of similarities to experiences I’ve lived and...

Awesome to hear! Been playing around with it here a bit. Missed my chance to bring it out shooting this weekend but I’ll try again soon!

    Restoring cast iron

I always worry about some of these old ones being used to heat lead. Anyone know what to do about that or what to look for?

    What's on the smoker today?

We went in on a bunch this year with a friend out of town. My wife is on board for more next year after spending a day butchering. Grocery store birds just don’t compare.

New Product Idea - Shooting Stick Platform - PoleX

You got it! I’ve got a pair of Stoney Point shooting sticks that I’ve carried with me everywhere for almost 20 years now. If everything goes as planned, this will replace them. I figure if I’m already carrying trekking poles I may as well shoot off them too.

I like how you use appropriate serving sizes for the two of you. Well done!

    Reduced recoil bullet selection

My vote is the 80gr TTSX. I feel like even a light load will carry that pill past its minimum expansion threshold. Disclaimer: I looked up no data on this. And have only loaded the 85gr TSX near max in mine for the past ten years.

A little humour for your day

I mean what can you really get for a dollar anymore. Even a bad grilled cheese is still worth a dollar when you eat three of them!

    What's on the smoker today?

Oh man, first bird of the year was excellent. Picture was from about half hour before done. Brined for 20 hours while it thawed in the fridge. Rubbed with Famous Dave’s Chicken Rub ( the only seasoning I need for chicken on the grill). Smoked for 2 hours and then turned up the heat to 350° until...

    What's on the smoker today?

Not this time. Kept it whole. Brined for about 20 hours as it thawed, seasoned it and tossed it on. I’ll spatchcock the next one!
