I wondered this exact thing today when reading on some different units in Arizona. Go hunt says better things about most Montana general units than some pretty good Arizona units. I wondered if some staffers there are hoping to not mess up their draw odds.
I called in an abandoned net and the DNR wasn’t even going to deal with it until I somewhat lost my mind. I let them know I knew a guy who lost 4 family members in a drowning accident when their boat and gear got tangled in a poorly marked net.
Anyone hear about the new decree? I’m pretty disappointed that the tribe would pursue additional gill netting in an already fragile fishery. I’m even more disappointed that Michigan DNR signed it without any negotiations.
I’m pretty confident the additional gill netting is going to destroy...
What’s your favorite set for cats? I’m striking out here. Lost something this morning that could have been a cat. I had one walk with 20 yards of a couple sets yesterday and never even check them out. So frustrating! We have a very short trapping season so it’s tough.
My little trapping buddy and I got another one in the remake this morning! I was sad to hear some kids were giving him grief at school today when he told them he trapped a couple fox. Hopefully it doesn’t dampen his enthusiasm.
My son has been all over to show him how to catch a fox. Even more specifically a red fox. Kids get something in their head and they just can’t let it go. I kinda thought there’d be pretty low odds of finding one around our place because it’s mostly all coyotes. I headed out to check our...
Doubt I’ll make headlines one of these days but I’ve had a lot of fun hunting from kayaks. I know one of these cold mornings I’m going to slip on one of the log crossings and go for a swim. Depending on water level I have to get out several times and climb over dead falls and then get back in...
Why people feel the need to put trails everywhere is beyond me. Just leave nature alone and enjoy it as it is. There’s a large conservancy property by my house and they want to bulldoze a trail through the middle of it.
Lol the end of that made me laugh. Damn they just don’t give up! This hits home as we had a grizz get into our elk a couple weeks ago. We had to search around but were able to salvage most of the meat.
Most of mine have been 3 miles or less. Elevation is the real limitation for me and not distance. Going to spike in about 6 miles this season. Might be a bad call but I’d like to try. All of my hunting is with a rifle, so far.
