I caught movement off to my left and saw a big cow step out 20-25 yards 90deg to where we were looking. Finnley was so locked on those other elk, I had to argue with him to look away. I was worried she would bolt because she was almost down wind. Luckily, her head was almost completely behind...
Ok got backed up, I’ll try to ge this wrapped up.
After that near miss I was 100% sure that was the last cow elk left in the world and we’d never see another. I can be a little bit of a drama queen but I’m sure we’ve all been there. We went and got some good food and I had to laugh because...
Michigan requires all elk hunters to take an orientation class. So the day before opening day, we attended a few hour session that was actually somewhat interesting. I was surprised how much he paid attention. Once complete, we pick up his tag and we were ready to go!
We headed off to the...
I just finished one of the best elk hunts I’ll probably ever have. Being able to hunt with my 9 year old son was so much fun.
Michigan allows youth to apply for for elk and bear as part of the mentored youth hunting program. One day this summer, my wife came running into the house and told...
Nothing wrong with it, just saying what I did because it seems like there’s a lot of bashing towards people that aren’t “from the west” and it seems looked down upon if you come from one of the eastern states. I guess to me it’s nonresident vs resident. It doesn’t really matter what state you...
People ruin everything, we tend to love everything to death. I didn’t even try for a tag this year. I don’t do rat races.
I just can’t understand how that many people are trying for tags that realistically only one person in your group will get. There’s not tons of people driving 25+ hours...
You guys sleep in your climber? Wow, brave. I hunt of a climber A LOT. The summit stands are my favorite. I’ll probably get a saddle some day but tried it once and it wasn’t for me. Climbers are so comfortable, I even use them as hanging stands. But I always nap on the ground 😁.
I’m in a tree right now getting snowed on down in a nasty swamp. Last day of rifle deer for me!
I shot a really nice mule deer my last day in idaho a few years back. My brother bumped it as he was coming down the mountain and it ran right by me. Dumped it and couldn’t believe what happened.
I was on the Agawa canyon train running up towards Wawa in the winter and we smoked a wolf. Guy got it all on video. They even stopped the train. Thing was huge!
You don’t mind the 8.5lb carry weight? That’s what turned me off. I picked up the carbon version in miles city Mt and it was great but they wanted $450 for it. I almost threw it and ran when I looked at the price. It’s waaay cheaper online tho.
So far he’s shot multiple deer and a turkey. He even trapped a couple fox last year. I open the door for opportunities and he walks through it if he wants to. I actually put in for the tag just he could build some points because it’s only $5. Never thought he’d draw it. But now that’s all...
I think we need to talk about whatever masterpiece that is you’re sleeping on!?! I’m going to tell everyone I have Covid next year. Davis wall tent all to myself and no snoring!!
