    24 AK results...

I want to do that hunt very bad but I also wonder if I’m cut out for it. I always doubt myself but always come through when challenged, but that hunt is a whole different level.

    HTer Fitness Goals '24 Edition

‘84 guy here too. I’ve fallen into the challenges of work and family life and I’m nowhere near as active as I used to be. I haven’t run for months because of hunting season, work travel, and winter weather. I set my baseline time to beat for this year. At the end of the summer, I want to see...

    Devaluing Non-Residents

When do we get to start talking about ways to grow the herd instead of throwing poop at eachother?

    Devaluing Non-Residents

I’m scratching my head on this one. Are you saying that if it’s not better, it’s worse?

    Devaluing Non-Residents

Non-residents are never going away. The cost will just keep going up. I agree with the part about it being a rich persons game at some point. That’s the worst part to me. The talk about “market price” of a non resident tag is gross. This is a natural resource, not a used car. I could go...

Grizzly Bear Deterrents while Backpack Camping (increased safety while sleeping)

I slept very well in Ak this year with a lot of grizz around. Electric fence was well worth it. I was more worried about loosing camp or food while we were gone. That could turn deadly if our tent got shredded.

How long did it take for your first elk?

3 days….my first elk hunt, solo and my first trip out west. I was walking across a deadfall in Wyoming and saw a spike about 75 yards away and shot it while balancing on a deadfall about 4ft off the ground lol.

    New chick from Manitoba

Wow! I’d love to see some pictures and hear from stories from that.

    How many miles?

I think we need a new unit to “measure” an elk hunt. Lb*ft per mile. Weight, elevation, and distance. We can call it a Dsnow. As in….most humans can hunt .25 Dsnow’s per day.

    How many miles?

It all comes down to weight and elevation for me. I think 3 miles fully loaded into camp is about my comfort zone. That’s usually with snow as well. When I just have a day pack, I tend to do about 6-8 but I have the misadventure from time to time which may add up to 15+. Especially with...

    Great Social Media posts?

Clayton Danger is like the mullet version of a name, business in the front, party in the back. My name seems so boring in comparison.

Worst Hotel you’ve ever stayed at ..

First off, you all suck. I’m sitting here in a hotel room and my skin is crawling. I made a work trip to Perth Australia and stayed at a fairly nice hotel. Middle of the night, the fire alarm goes off. I grab my backpack and run out the door. Yup it’s real, lots of smoke. Made it down...

The January Topic: KUIU vs Sitka!

Haven’t tried Sitka, but I have tried others. Kuiu has been great for me. Their warranty is fantastic. Had a zipper break on a 6 year old pack and they sent me a new pack right away. They’ve earned my business with their customer service over the years.

    Michigan Elk Hunt

I started getting a bunch of texts and I was sitting in the Detroit airport and quick called my wife to save it for me. I was so embarrassed to see myself on TV 🤣. They edited about 90% of what my son said said during the interview because between him and I, it was a total dumpster fire. We...

    The Good Stuff Thread

Using an old mummy bag and a camo waterproof bivy cover to deer hunt out of makes me so happy I can’t even explain it. Combine that with a heated shirt and it’s even better. At least it’s good for us Midwest hunters who like being frozen to a tree every November.

Anyone have knowledge on small tractor capabilities?

100% right here. I ended up using my blade to scrape off and break up the sod . First disc on a field sucks. Takes a lot of passes.
