Is that a grouse or a bobwhite? (I'm horrible with bird ID!!! ;) ) Growing up near the farm fields north of Howell we used to hear the bobwhite every night in the summer. I learned to whistle by imitating the 'bob, bob, WHITE' outside in the summer! Rarely hear them anymore.
Yeah, my gummies will be sitting on top of my bear spray while I'm sleeping!
But there is no way it's keeping me off the mountain! Just trying to take the right type of precautions to give me the highest probability of making it home.
So how far away from your tent are you hanging your food and cooking/eating your food? 30 yards, 100 yards, 300 yards? I'm at a slight disadvantage being a type 1 diabetic that I'll always have some type of food in my tent while sleeping in case my blood sugar drops in the middle of the night...
I've always been curious about this too. I'll be in the southern 1/2 of the Wyoming Range (is that where you'll be?) this year and even wondered about the rare chance of a grizzly in that area and if that changes anything with respect to bear bags/hanging the freeze dried food?
I just looked at the leftover list and saw that there are 4 units with both a type 4 and a type 6 available. None of those units have identical season dates and restrictions.
Edit: (I misread one of the units)
I grew up in Michigan, left for 7 years after college, and have now been back for about 8 years. I've always thought about getting out to try grouse and woodcock hunting but never ended up finding the time. I even went to Michigan Tech my freshman year and did plenty of deer hunting and ice...
I don't know how to post the screenshot you guys are posting, but I've also been on the struggle bus lately. I try to use a "strategy" by using the same 3 words that eliminates all of the vowels and all of the common consonants and go from there. But today's was a real ball crusher at the end...
It's also the case that the majority of the units with both a type 6 and type 4 dont have identical dates and restrictions.
If they are identical there is also a reason that they are leftover this late in the game 😉
That's kinda been my luck this year too. Applied for tags all over the place with realistic odds and realistic points. This was my last shot and I finally got a tag.
Wyoming Leftover Draw results are out. I snagged a leftover cow tag in a general unit. Struck out on the leftover type 9 tag. Good luck to everyone else who snagged a tag at the last minute!!
