Worst year we have had in western MN 53 years (some of that 53 was before my time!!). I would say the population is down 80% from a couple years ago.
Pulling for ya! I hope that cattail hike was worth it.
So looking at the picture of the dog and the spotting scope in it. I think you were looking in the wrong direction (up). Might explain why only one deer was seen. Kinda amazed you saw one up there actually!!!!
Three kids here. Sophomore daughter in college. Twin 9th grade boys. I volunteer for some conservation orgs. But a few years back, I said in the event of overlapping time commitments, my kids always win. Best thing I ever did.
I was just talking with my daughter about hunting with...
There is a threat out there that will take every hunter pulling on the oars together and that is Federal Land transfer. I fear, if western states circle the wagons and cut out NRs from enjoying western wildlife, by and large, NRs will lose interest in that fight. That scares me a lot as that is...
Interesting to see the trend of the number of bucks harvested by each method. In 2014, vertical bows harvested more bucks (54,810) than crossbow shooters (26,891) by a 2:1 margin. From 2014 to 2021, it steadily changed until in 2021 vertical bow users shot 29,733, while crossbow users shot...
My family has 5 slug guns that all shoot Federal Trophy Coppers very well. Groups are 2" to 4" at 100 yards. Performance has been awesome on deer as well.
Alright, that brings up a question. I have hunted a lot of pheasants and obviously have shot plenty of huns and sharpies in the process (MT, ND, SD). I have hunted with stellar pointers. But wild birds do not always cooperate with pointers. What happens when birds either do not hold while...
i have read this thread and kept up with it. You can subtract my views of the pictures as I have no personal desire to shoot a cat. It is just an entertaining thread, so not everyone who reads this is jonesing to hunt a feline.
Lots of encounters with nongame. Here are 3:
Walking down a forest two-track in northern MN grouse hunting. Very dry, leaves are really loud. A lynx jumps out on the trail ahead of my wife and I and looks at us for quite awhile. Finally my dog starts toward it and it trots down the trail...
53 yr old here (important as I may not be your demographic). I personally wont go near a flat brim. I am not a fan of the Richardson either. My preference is curved brim, lower profile.
