I always try and sing Sweet Caroline to my kids as I drop them off to walk to their stands on opening morning. gets in their heads and drives them nuts. Unfortunately, it usually ends up in mine too.
* I founded and run, with a great half a dozen team members, a youth event called Youth Outdoor Activity Day. The event is totally free, has over 50 outdoor activities for kids to do and draws about 2,800 kids per year. It is this Sunday. It is described in Randy's podcast EP 129.
* I am the...
Always use my chaps and PPE as I cut just enough to know I don't know enough.
Craig, you take the best dang pictures! The salmon's eyes are pleading for help and the bear's eyes are saying don't even think about it.
It was mentioned before, but "running" equipment. As in, "what toothbrush are you running when truck camping for pronghorn?"
But on the flip side, one I love from my son when he was young. If I ask you if you are going to the store tonight and you are, you would say "I am". But if you are...
I may have to try Darn Tough again. I had some that shrunk up really bad. I love my Smart Wool though and have had great luck with them. Hard to justify buying Smart Wool seconds vs retail Darn Toughs.
I have had the opposite experience with Smartwool and Darn Tough. Smartwool has been great, my Darn Tough shrunk so much I gave them to my kids. I have Smartwool from 10+ years with no issues other than finally wearing them out. Never bunch up or fall apart. YMMV
I have had a full size Ranger 570 and now a Ranger 1000. I certainly like more power, but the 570 had plenty. Truth is, in almost all situations, you run out of traction before you run out of power. Unless you are going to be climbing or pulling a lot, either will work fine. Have had both...
I have also heard of people asking to put a random word on the sticky note on the item for sale. Tomato, Santa Claus, etc.
If you want to be really careful, go back to all of their posts and see if you can find someone who might have dealt with them.
Dave, Dave, Dave, it is a saddle, not a seat. I was corrected on that when I complained to our local bike company about my torture device. I bought a gel sea....err saddle pad and that has helped a lot. Still not super comfy, but definite improvement. I usually do around 10-13 miles per day...
Somebody once told me that everyone deals with death in their own way and to respect that. It was good advice then and still is now. Reading this affirmed that for me.
Hunting is conservation. This is more complicated the more you drill down. On the macro level, it is a tool used for...
Just curious if they let you fight the fire on public land? Sure hoping there wasn't any issues there. From the sounds of it, lots of people working together!
That is a good way to put it, but for the newbies, don't get hung up on the word "putrid". Pure putrid could be a dead animal and if in griz country that could mean an encounter you don't want. It is not a bad smell. Kinda like a cow? horse? I can't explain it very good, but if it really...
Absolutely. I have been thinking about this a bit lately. I think a group that could put forth a compelling narrative to the nonhunting public would be fantastic. We will win or lose based on the nonhunting public, the middle 80%, and we need to get our message out there. Charismatic...
Thought I would throw a log on your fire for ya! MN sales tax is 7.375%. I have no idea what avalara is, but they are wrong. Maybe that is for buying a car, cuz that is a little less. But for everyday purchases, not including clothing or most foods, it is 7 3/8%. The good news is, that 3/8%...
I would highly recommend all of Elknut's content. He focusses more on bowhunting, but is really informative. I think he has an app. His Playbook is out of print, but may be on Ebay.
