Looks like yours expanded a lot better than mine! I use 100grains of pyrodex pellets. I was wondering if I wasn’t fast enough for expansion or just that how it goes sometime. What’s your load?
I’m looking to adjust iron sites on 870. I was trying to google my question and didn’t turn up the answer. There are graduations on the rear ramp. A scope click is typically 1/4” at 100. Do iron sites like these have an expected distance a POI should shift at 100 yards? I’m just trying to cut...
Got any? Any good stories? I’ve had nearly all pass throughs so don’t have many. Pictured are the two I’ve recovered. A 165 grain federal trophy copper 30-06 I dug out of the hillside after a broadside shot on a mule deer and a Barnes 50 cal TMZ I recovered out of a rear ham from a frontal shot...
Thanks for all comments. I didn’t adjust anything. Shot at 100, 200, and 300. My actual zero range is probably 220, based on where everything else is hitting. But I’m ready to go.
Groups are about 1MOA, btw. The gun is more accurate than I am, that’s for sure.
I think I remember a video where @Big Fin uses trekking poles combined with a tree in some creative way to make a solid rifle rest in the field. I’ve looked through the old videos for ten minutes and didn’t turn it up. I don’t know if it was within a hunt or a video about field shooting...
To answer question, well I've only had one elk tag, drew back twice, but never shot an arrow. So I'm 0/0
But this is a bit of a digression on this post but relevant. Lots of things go into a hunt being good and memorable. Be it species, camaraderie, landscape/location, hunting style, the meals...
I use a Tikka 30-06, shoot 165 grain copper and a 3x9 scope (no dialing for me) for all my big game rifle hunting. This is not some target rifle, but what I would consider a pretty general purpose hunting rifle. I am not a shooting guru that is tinkering with handloads, not using chronographs...
Great video… @Big Fin… did I see you bust out “the griddy” touchdown dance as Larry was getting his picture taken at the end?!?!?
Making Justin Jefferson proud 😂😂
I think this is the winner. It doesn’t roll up like a proper dry bag at the top. When the clips are clipped together it doesn’t seal contents in in any useful way but also would make it hard to get into. Which is why I posted here in the first place, since I couldn’t figure out if there is a job...
I guess Pheasants forever needs to put their logo on a milk crate which is what I put ‘em in. This looks like it would keep a dead bird from cooling off, which is not what I want. But I suspect you’re right that it’s a game bag, and I will not use it as such. And the clip positioning is weird.
I don’t know when I got this but was in the back of the gear pile. It’s lined with a plastic or some sort, perhaps cordura outer, and has clips. It would be horribly designed if it was a cooler bag. Any idea what its intended purpose is?
I Didn’t catch that Randy said the shot was 200 yards before. Probably just a miss… I don’t think POI should change so much as to miss a bear. But I’dbstill be curious if he has any more insights on that…
