Lets just hunt with drones.....................
Like cell cameras. Sit in your lazy boy drinking your beer until your phone tells you one is ready to get killed.
Were not talking about a killing a whitetail from a stand.
If you have never been to CO, never killed, gutted, packed out an elk, shit gets real fast. Id bring a buddy or else one of us may need to come get you.
With that said, I would never discourage anyone from hunting. Good luck
I think all that is really good prep and a good start. After years and years of this my plan has simplified to this:
Where are there no people. Thats where the elk will be. I literally just talked to a ODFW guy yesterday about my big hunt coming up. While there are only 20 tags I asked him...
This week I went out to MO. to Rockbridge. yes its a trout farm, yes its stocked but you do fish in a river and get to try some new things. For me I have never fly fished. I committed to learning and was able to at least look like I kinda knew what I was doing ( from a distance). It was great...
On my property elk could care less. i have camera pics of moo cows and elk in the same pic. BUT, more food than a 1000 head could eat and water galore.
Who says a 300 Weatherby is going obsolete?
Its still arguably one of the best 300 out there. There are just goobers like like me that think we need something sexier like .30 Nosler or PRC. Neither will kill an elk any faster, further or cleaner.
Its a little heavy is the only complaint for my...
Starting to see this in rifle now that we all the long range super duper snipers out there. Two years ago my buddy and I ran into two guys on a ridge in the Elkhorns in Oregon. They were just standing on a ridge with one gun on sticks and the other getting ready to call shot (s). I asked what...
Whaaaaat. That’s city or government property.
But I know a guy who knows a guy who said he once heard about a guy who may or may not have shot a few with a saw- off 12g. Allegedly
Dead coons don't come back.
get a dog or borrow a dog. Up the tree they go. .22 in brings them down. Growing up in Northern Wash state an having 300 plus chickens wild outdoors we have coons and possum. Without exaggeration we must of killed 50-60 growing up. Everyone tree by a dog. Everyone...
For me all guns get "on target" at 100 yards. If the true sight in is 200 or 300 I get it whatever the height above 100 it should be. That puts you very close at your desired range. All my guns except two are zeroed at 200 yards. Including my .28 and .30 Nosler.
Only my 6.5-300 is sighted in at...
NWCC fire map is great place for Oregon and Washington fires.

Synthetic obviously the way to go but the fabric covering they put on the last foot by the hook are horrible. First thing I take off. It will get all bound up and prevents a good tight winding.
Get either a used Xp900 EPS ranger or a new Xp1000. You will not like anything smaller. I have a 2 door Xp900 and its great. I bought a new 4 door and its better but its the 1500XD but its crazy money.
Older ones will not have downhill asst. May not matter if you don't do steep terrain...
