Grizzly shot in Idaho GMU 6 by black bear hunter.

Yeah, I left out a comma between does and not. :D

Grizzly shot in Idaho GMU 6 by black bear hunter.

Does Idaho require passing a bear identification test to hunt? Just wondering ... Montana does, not that taking a test would mean never misidentifying.

    Gaps in coverage

I'd think about adding more/better optics including binoculars/spotting scopes. It seems to me you that you have a good caliber mix.

    7x57 bullet weight

It depends on the shot ranges you are shooting for, but 2400 at muzzle is fairly slow to have full expansion at 200 yds or so. The carbine length is going to make it harder to get good speed. I'd consider 120s.

170" Whitetail on the killed ground @ 25yds

Nice buck. Before clicking on the thread I was sure it was going to be an archery hunt.

MT Senator Jon Tester Quietly Taking Money from Anti-gun [Brady] PAC

I don't know how that could work.

I'm assuming you aren't with the Testor campaign or those who create his ads, so I'm assuming you are just repeating their talking points that you've heard/read. My point is the ads about this subject aren't true. They are misleading at best. It's like the text from the Montana Independent...

Agreed. There is no public sale proposal in the Senate or House. However, there is this one. https://www.trcp.org/2024/02/22/new-bipartisan-legislation-would-keep-public-lands-in-public-hands/ This bipartisan legislation, introduced by Representatives Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.) and Gabe Vasquez...

My guess is that most fair people think that Sheehy as a ex-Seal with a medical discharge should be allowed to live wherever he wants. https://www.usni.org/people/tim-sheehy "Mr. Sheehy is a 2008 U.S. Naval Academy graduate and a former Navy SEAL officer. He was discharged after being wounded...

I think you mean the Democrats you hang out with support Tester, and that's totally fine. As far as viable goes, I don't personally think Democrats have a viable candidate ... in other words, I won't vote for him. Montana values is a misnomer as well. It's easy to find that there really...

I think we have to drink Montana beer. These are pretty good for this time of year. However, I don't know if the owners were born in Montana or not.

MT Senator Jon Tester Quietly Taking Money from Anti-gun [Brady] PAC

There was a previous thread that contained a link to an interview with Sheehy where he said that he'd prefer status quo. As noted in that thread, the only proposal prevents public land transfer. In other words, it's a fake campaign issue. Fwiw, they've started debates, so it might be worth...

Bipartisan only means at least one of each party was for it. 86% is a talking point number. Neither are anywhere close to the common man. One says he's a rancher and one says he's a farmer. You can vote based on that if you want. As noted previously, Tester primarily votes with Ds and...

How strange that this thread turned into a straight political one, but I guess that was the point of starting it. ;)

The Governor, the Wolf and the Warden: A Fresh Look at a Gianforte Hunt

It's cool how stories like this show up during election season only. Of course, some believe whatever they read, and some stories might be true. Most of us know that most have political motivations even if they are former employees. Of course, there are others involved in preventing "some"...

    Removing Sage brush

Just a tractor will work for removing a limited amount of sagebrush. It also can be removed by mowing. Finally, Spike can be used to make openings. There are some good videos on YouTube that describe what’s possible.

    270 Weatherby, yea or neigh?

A 270 Wby would be a nice caliber with lots of speed depending on the twist rate. Like other Wbys, expensive to shoot unless you reload.

    Hornady 300 wsm ammo

I’ve read that Hornady has had issues with several calibers not chambering or barely chambering, and that’s even with their calibers. I guess I’d buy a cartridge check tool if I was going to regularly use their ammo for hunting.
