Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

Hello, I’m Eric Albus, and I don’t hide behind an anonymous internet moniker, and the first altruist to introduce himself.

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

I wanted to keep it quiet….the demand for mule deer does is off the charts!!! I’ve made a fortune already on whitetail does, I can’t imagine what having mulie doe hunts will do for the bottom line. Before some dolt takes me seriously, I’ve never charged anyone a dime to hunt does...

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

Keep the New Yorkers in the zoo, we don’t want them “re-wilding” eastern Mt.

I can’t figure it out, cry wolf over carbon emissions, but don’t think far enough ahead to realize it’s carbon dioxide plants, algae need to produce oxygen. Makes one scratch their head a bit.

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

First thing first, you’re clueless, but that’s “your problem “. 2nd thing, only those worth multiple millions, or a billion can buy a ranch worth 10-150 million dollars.(billionaires was a slight exaggeration…but you being clueless enough to think it’s stupid speaks to your ignorance, or...

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

I don’t have a problem finding someone “to hunt my land”. We had plenty of folks lining up to hunt FOR FREE when we had an elk issue a few years ago. It is not “if” elk are an economic impact, FACT they do impact. Elk are not like mule deer, elk graze, mulies browse (of you don’t know the...

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

I worry a bit about where the country is actually headed, IMO a recession/depression looks unavoidable. A Gov’t can’t print money and hand it out for free and there be no consequences. Unless inflation will keep it in check, and in order to keep inflation in check I expect the Fed to raise...

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

Rather than complaining on an internet blog site (whilst hiding behind an anonymous moniker) why not try being part of the solution. Bring forward some ideas of how we can incentivize landowners to allow access.

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

most farms/ranches in NE operate on a 2-4% profit margin. It is the poorest business model I know of. I think we’d all be more profitable if the government was out of our business. However it ain’t gonna happen…and it’s for the consumer’s benefit. With the cheap food policy our...

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

Still can’t make a living. It’s easier there I’ll agree, in fact every River south of me it gets a little easier. My statement was implying “you can’t go buy a ranch at $1500 an acre and make it pay”. Borrow the money for the land, and then there’s a little problem of buying...

Grazing fees, the economics of elk and cattle

You continue to show your ignorance. I wish gov’t would get out of farming/ranching, as do most if not all of us. Guess what, they aren’t. By the way, we all pay taxes too. FYI, I’m not making 50% more than the median, and there is not any “brand new iron” on our farm/ranch.
