It's hard to tell how big that track is from the pic, but it very likely could be a Mexican wolf if you were in Unit 27, or a lion, it's not a clear track in all that crusty snow.

The empty space (reading nook/kids' hangout/pantry/etc.) bothers me less than the giant return air grille on that tiny wall next to it, and the awful base to stair kick transition as well.
