Who doesn’t wear camo to hunt

“Dad, why do I have to wear camo?” “You don’t. You can wear whatever you want. It doesn’t do anything, except in a few special situations.”

    Recovered bullets

143 gr. ELDX, 320 yards. Quartering to, hit just under the spine and ruined the opposite tenderloin. Antelope doe dead in a few seconds.

A hunt that pushes you to your limits is a good hunt. Sounds like you gave it all you had. I would take your adventure any day over filling a tag on a gimme hunt

    Deer Hunting in MI

I’m a big fan of Super Warmer hand warmers, but of course I forgot one today. I’m up to one twig snap and a distant turkey cluck so far. Not too promising.

    Deer Hunting in MI

I keep typing and deleting responses, but I can’t quite find the intersection of funny yet still marginally appropriate. @Nick87 I need some help.

    Oh, the irony!

Conservatives want to privatize public lands. Liberals want to cover them with solar farms. I think the only hope at this point is a campaign to educate voters about the value of their public land.

    HTer Fitness Goals '24 Edition

Still going strong. 10-mile days in WY felt like a warm-up. I’m in my best physical shape since I breezed through a half marathon in 2018.

    2024 - A Restless Brain

Keep up the good fight, man. Putting stuff out in the open, the struggles do lose some of their power. We realize how much we really are not alone, and the response from others is so often supportive, and not so judgmental and second-guessing that we quietly endure within our own minds. Meds...

    Five antelope, seven days

Just finished wrapping it all up, and into the freezer. 86 lbs of some of my favorite meat. I feel very blessed to have had a great trip with Nate and punch all my tags.

Who is funding the fight against hunting? Well you are of course…

I’d argue that double lung is ethical treatment.

    Life insurance question

Maybe, maybe not. If you have paid in to SS, you could get anywhere from $0 to hundreds of thousands from the SSA depending on how old your children are.

    Five antelope, seven days

Crazy Halloween night - we stopped in Gillette to gas up at around 10 pm, and I saw what appeared to be 3 guys chasing down a forth guy and start beating him up in the Best Western parking lot. The 3 guys were yelling angrily in some language I did not recognize, and the dude being chased...

    Five antelope, seven days

BMA was a bust. We moved on to do a lot of driving and glassing from high spots. It’s super dry and antelope are on private land eating winter wheat, except to water, also on private. We saw well over 100. Several locals spotted our orange hats and out-of-state plates and stopped by to give...

    Five antelope, seven days

Cutting up the doe I find a severed aorta just above the heart - perfect shot. Just a little time to celebrate, and we are packed up and on our way to Montana. Two more tags and two days to make it happen. I have a BMA reservation, and no idea what to expect. New country for me, but Nate is a...

    Five antelope, seven days

We quick loaded up the animal, and then cooked a late lunch. At this point it’s 2 PM and we have a 45-min drive to get back to the nearest huntable antelope that we know of. Once we arrive we stop and glass, repeat and repeat, hoping to find something on public. Nate eventually picks out a...
