    Centerfire rifles - your path

I've had good luck with the Proof prefits, and they're decent values too. All of mine are steel but I've shot a pile of the carbon's and not seen a real dog. Are you taking that 25 to Seth's match next month?

What bolt guns get the nod from you these days?

    Centerfire rifles - your path

I know multiple people who use that combo without issue, but it's a valid question I can't answer with personal experience as I don't shoot 88's at warp speed currently. I would expect the 95 to penetrate better myself, if that's your primary criteria and the world mostly stops at 350 yds, I...

    Centerfire rifles - your path

I'd have to be going 22 Creed and 88's. Nothing wrong with the 243/95 but there's free performance IMO. H4350 and 109 ELD's will be my first pitch, would also consider trying out 103's or 108's, and H1000, but if the first few combo's don't impress I probably won't have much patience.

    Centerfire rifles - your path

I’ve dabbled around the firearm world plenty in my life, but centerfire bolt guns have been my focus for decades, they’re just what I’m most interested in. I’m relaxing on a Sunday, and @brockel's post about his chamberings inspired me to see if I could recall all the rifles & barrels I've...

    Milk jug challenge.

I don't observe any precision or point of impact shifts with my rifles as they heat up, and I heat them up plenty. Shot a regular PRS 1 day match yesterday with a hunting rifle wearing a PVA Osprey 2b contour, a decent barrel but still a button rifled barrel. 10 shot strings in 2 minutes, they...

    Milk jug challenge.

I haven't used milk jugs in years as I've got too much access to pretty nice ranges with good steel target options, but I'm in favor of any realistic field practice/competition. Steel is logistically easier for regular competition, but milk jugs do have a few advantages. They're essentially...

    Hornady 7 PRC a Lie?

It isn't my wheelhouse, but I'd guess the availability of Lapua brass is easily enough for that crowd to choose the PRC case over the SAUM. The 284 Win and it's wildcats have been pretty popular at the top of that game, which has a very similar capacity to the 6.5 PRC case. I wonder if they're...

    Hornady 7 PRC a Lie?

That's correct. It's gained plenty of popularity in F Class. I can see the appeal. More case capacity isn't always a good thing.

    NFA Wait Times

There are absolutely folks who aren’t price sensitive doing this right now, I’ve suggested it myself. If likely having it sooner is worth more than the extra $200 to you…

Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice - 2024

https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gear-gun-supplies/rifles/savage-arms-110-elite-precision-blackgray-bolt-action-rifle-338-lapua-magnum/p/1621627 I ran the numbers. Should get me to 1800 yds with sufficient energy. Nothing will get away.

Spend my money on a chronograph

Garmin Xero, or Magnetospeed Sporter if you're on a budget. With the Garmin's release, the Labradar and Magnetospeed V3 have become much harder to recommend. For the most part, I wouldn't bother with the rest of the market if they we free, I don't trust their accuracy enough.

Rifle Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice for 2023

The Seekins 6 Creed is a decent package too, but I like my Tikka's better and I suspect the Seekins might be off getting a fresh barrel this fall.

Rifle Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice for 2023

2024 choices are uncertain for sure at this point, but if I don't get any new barrels between now and fall/winter it's most likely a Tikka 243 with 103 or 109 ELD's with my 22BR/88 ELD combo as backup. The 243 barrel is still relatively unknown, so it'll have to behave first. However elk are...

What age to be a millionaire?

I once worked on a crew of six carpenters where three of us had engineering degrees. Can confirm though, not the average for the trades.

    NFA Wait Times

I had heard the rumor's the RR's were getting announced at SHOT by the time I submitted, but don't have the kind of connections required to actually get one early. I've still got a 50% cert that I think I might use on a Magnus K RR for competition use, if another one comes my way this year I...

    NFA Wait Times

Just got two approvals, 80 and 81 days. I don't think it could have been more painless, appreciate having a competent local shop (Montana Tactical). They mentioned some recent submissions have been going extremely fast, including one that was IIRC 3 hours.

    Cleaning media

Cheapie walnut and a XL vibratory Lyman tumbler for me. I don't care about the shine, and I don't worry about the primer pockets at all. I do like the light layer of carbon, dust, and car wax that remains inside the necks. I actually don't tumble prior to sizing either, only after to remove...
