    Stuck Brass

Depending on the fit of your dies-chamber-brass to each other you can have the brass end up tight in the web area after multiple firings without excess pressure. Though they could be over pressure. With the volume that you’re shooting and having other brass available I’d just skip the nickel...

    Favorite EDC...what'cha got

These cover the last 20 years more or less. The 840 is the slickest and my favorite, I couldn’t open an auto faster. The size of the 710 is nice for certain things, but…next to the 840 it lacks sex appeal. The Milwaukee utility blades get the nod 95% of the time these days, I am just not...

Anyone have experience with Really Right Stuff (RRS) tripods?

Good catch, I agree about the supplemental pan head if you’re going to be glassing for days on end. I don’t mind glassing for a while from an anvil, personally. I have the leveling head, it is the most stable for shooting off, but the angle limitations make it compromised for general use.

Anyone have experience with Really Right Stuff (RRS) tripods?

They’re very nice, and fully priced. I would look at the TFCT-24, 24L, 34, or 34L with the Anvil 30 head for a buy once cry once situation. The 24's have smaller leg diameters than the 34's and as such trade away a little stability for some weight savings, I don't have the experience to...

    WWYD - 300 WBY

To be honest, that looks like a 4ish MOA system to me (defining accuracy as what size target can be hit on command at least 95% of the time). I'd be changing the bullet at a minimum, if not the barrel or entire rifle. Maybe you can get lucky and find out that something is loose or the scope is...

    Two rifles, One Caliber?

I dislike load development, and am unconvinced small changes make much difference for field rifles (unless you're tweaking seating depth in and out of the lands). Anymore, when I get a new barrel in a caliber I already load for, I start by trying the last barrels load (after checking the throat...

MT Mule Deer Age data accuracy and reality

1). 13 MT mule deer bucks 2). Zero 3). N/A 4). I've been through it, but never brought an animal through.

"You guys might have created a Monster with that possibility"...

Similar tech has been available since 2021 I believe, from at least Sig, Swaro, and Leica. I have LOTS of friends with the technology, I can't think of anyone mentioning that they actually used it. I've had RF's that would do it in the past, never bothered to try it. While the tech is real...

Stockys ultra carbon tikka vertical grip

If weight and cost were equal (they clearly aren't) I prefer the view of a 7-35 ATACR or 5-27 ZCO to the Maven, but I still generally stop at 15x on any of my rifles for my purposes. Hunting weight rifles I try to be 8-10x, but do creep up to 12x+ if needed to see the reticle clearly. The...

Stockys ultra carbon tikka vertical grip

Maven RS1.2 - it has a very good feature set & reticle for a field scope. Mine has behaved itself so far, but I'm pretty skeptical of new scope designs and don't have the same trust in it I do with Nightforce's, and I've even seen issues there.

Stockys ultra carbon tikka vertical grip

@Weimer @brockel I've got one, beta test version but they didn't change the geometry. It's nice to shoot, there's nothing I've shot (and I've shot nearly everything decent) that I like as much at this weight point. It's solidly ahead of the Stocky's vertical grip or the CTR, neither are my...

Gillette WY to build nuclear power plants

Inside the mine, my experience is they're like workers in any other blue collar occupation I've been around or dabbled in. There's a few for whom it's their life/identity. Many are (rightly) proud of working hard to support the world around them. For the majority, it's a job...a job that pays...

    Centerfire rifles - your path

I shot my first deer with a 30-06 Gamemaster that was borrowed from my uncle. Popular choice for that place and time.

    Centerfire rifles - your path

Gotta go hit vs miss under time from various positions, or you start essentially shooting groups and get all neurotic like the benchies. (Any benchrest shooters, love you, but the last 10% that's required to win in your game gets lost in the noise for most field shooting). I know a picky MT...

    Centerfire rifles - your path

I've had a few factory Tikka 223 barrels, and while they shoot decent I haven't had one to write home about with ELD's either. Maybe 1.1" - 1.3" 10 shot groups, not bad but I am spoiled by better combinations on average. Have a brand spankin' new one to test out here shortly, if it'll do...

    The Devil's Lettuce

Will that help with the outrage? It's hard to contain myself. Get's a little too much attention in town. I like to keep a low profile.

    Centerfire rifles - your path

Despite my extensive list of stuff I've HAD, I essentially have two hunting rifles, two competition rifles (for two different styles of competition), and two training rifles. I think there's 43 barrel's/rifle's on my list, but I only have six actions in service and one action salted away. I've...

    Centerfire rifles - your path

Eh...it's more appealing now that you can get ADG brass, but I can't imagine it ever being my first pitch for anything if I'm building one Super classy list, I can in no way hang with the class. That sounds similar to how I thought in & around college. What are you changing up about the...
