Thanks for sharing. I have the DeLorme, will consider this but 40% off doesn't seem like enough to entice me, especially if in a few years we will all just be using our phones . . .?
I have hunted the same southwest unit for the past two years. Two years ago I had the tag and then last year my wife had the tag. My biggest constraint was distance shooting. I would practice as much as possible at 400 yards (or as far as you are comfortable) in field positions - sitting off...
I think you would get a better response if you at least mentioned the topic you are looking for help with. I.e. tent camping, taxes, tent shanking etc.
I have always just cashed them in at the bank. Pretty similar to cashing a check. There isn’t a fee or anything so I do not see why you would consider paying postage to mail them in and risk them getting lost in mail.
Not sure about maps or apps but depending on where you’re hunting might check city/news live view cameras? Ideally you could find one with the mountain range you want to scout in the background.
Curious if anyone has the wiser precision quick stix and to hear how they compare to those. I got those for Christmas so waiting to try them out this season. If I am not satisfied will sure to give these a go.
I once read aging defined as; the aggressive pursuit of comfort.
I’m mentally resolved to continue backpacking my entire life but am also realistic in that in 10-20 years I expect my enjoyment of it may wane similar to yours.
Made it to the range 3 days last week and this past Saturday morning. No complaints with accuracy. Largest group I’ve shot was ~1.25” when still breaking in barrel. Photos of groups are from this Saturday after having shot ~20 rounds during the week.
I am having issues with...
I ended up taking the rifle with attached ringmounts into no less than 3 sporting goods stores to see what scopes would work. I learned that many of the higher tier scopes now have short tubes in front of the turret. I prefer a simple reticle, and also learned that many scope manufacturers...
It’s now the end of April. Ready to mount the scope, a Leupold VX-5HD off a rifle I parted with.
Sako has a proprietary integrated dovetail and either ringmount or optilock mounts. I prefer the one piece ringmounts. Go to mount the scope to find out not going to work with length of action...
I left the gun alone over the weekend out of frustration. Monday came around and I got a text from the gunsmith with the total amount due and letting me know the rifle was shipped the previous week. I was polite but let him know I was not happy and planned to find a gunsmith here in MT to redo...
Soon after opening the rifle I noticed the recoil pad. Not the Pachmyer I had thought we decided to go with and certainly not a classic grind to fit Limbsaver. A pre-for Air-tech. Looked like chit IMO. I was a bit frustrated.
Got home and figured I’d just put the original pad back on. Took...
I selected Dave Bruno out of PA to chamber and assemble the rifle. In all my hours of research, the internet was full of his praises. I believe he also builds the Accuflite rifles for JB if the internet is true.
I was told a “couple months” to complete which seemed fast and I was not too...
Thanks to all of you on here posting your custom or semi-custom rigs I was inspired over a year ago to set out on what has become quite the course.
I own a Sako 85 Finnlight in 6.5cm, by far the best rifle I’ve ever owned. I have now spent enough time around centerfire rifles and carried them...
Which one?
The one where he decided to have an affair with my mom while she was pregnant with me and ultimately left her for his mistress?
Or the one where he finally decided after 2 years of not seeing me to start visitation to save on child support and help build his (unsuccessful) case for...
