Legend has it for every forky that’s killed a new way point is born on a Washington Facebook page.
In all seriousness probably best to keep this thing on track.
I know you are talking elk hunting pressure, but circling back to mule deer.
We are not getting a good return from the nonresident money. Our hunting is swirling right down the toilet bowl. Nonresident funding is preventing meaningful changes.
I just don’t see enough protections for region 6 and 7 to get very fired up about this plan. We are going to see the same amount of nonresidents and western Montana hunters for 2 months instead of 5 weeks. It is going to increase landowner fatigue. The benefit I do see is taking the rut out of...
I don’t see this moving the needle for mule deer hunting pressure in eastern Montana. Still better than what we have now with the rut hunt I guess though.
Respectfully disagree. It isn’t an easy sell to our deer herd that prefers to reside on public land. Better than what we have, maybe. No nonresident caps or pick your region makes it harder to support.
Just finished the podcast. The main issue I have with the plan is letting region 6 and 7 continue to bear the burden of the nonresidents. There needs to be some limits to those 2 regions with nonresident deer tags.
I haven’t been through a game check in over 10 years. They don’t manage for land types public vs private.
Thats a very small sample size for the amount of tags issued. I would bet they are getting a bigger subset of private land hunters but who knows.
Favorable weather, average harvest rates, mature antelope spell successful antelope opener in southeast Montana
MILES CITY – Hunters out and about for this weekend’s opener of antelope rifle season were reportedly happy with favorable weather, harvest rates close to average and a good ratio of...
I had a buddy from Bozeman ask me some decent areas to hunt antelope. I think he believes I sent him into a desolate wasteland but I was being completely honest of where I thought he should go. Shipped calves on Saturday and a road that years ago would see little traffic was constant traffic of...
Eastern Montana is getting torched. The only way to stop it is to limit tags.
The residents of eastern Montana will suffer. Pretty straight forward. So I guess there might not be a point to my rant but that is what happened and anybody with a semi functioning brain should have saw it and tried...
