Guys. Enough is enough. This is what the Virginia Marine Resources Commission thinks about the health of the Bay:
This is pissing on our backs and calling it rain- VMRC essentially decided to do nothing. If you live on or care about the Chesapeake Bay, I implore you to write your reps and...
Absolutely. Most people don't realize how common optical failures are. Go to any public range the week before a general firearms opener and watch how many people are checking their zero, making adjustments to bring their point of impact to center, and then calling it good to hunt. This is...
Pretty wild to hear takes like this on it. I applied in NM as a DIY nonresident a few times, but the fees now are too much for me to reasonably afford. Sad to hear that the residents are getting shafted even worse than NRs.
I guided a backpacking trip through the Gila this past May, and it was...
I imagine it's related to the influx of hundreds of thousands of cheap and cheaply made south Asian optics sold by big box stores and other large retailers. These days, shops where you can get a fair deal on a quality product that will last for decades of use are hard to find.
I was in Dick's...
Very interesting results- currently 7 of 9 votes for binos first.
In the vein of transparency, I have a hard time understanding that perspective. If your binos fail, you still may very well have a successful hunt- I spotted my Nevada Pronghorn this year with my naked eye. If your riflescope...
Interested in the collective opinion on this, as I've seen and heard recommendations on this topic recently that seemed confusing. When someone is either upgrading their optics suite for the first time or getting into hunting, which of these categories is a higher priority to spend money on and...
Of all the rifles I've checked, I'd say almost half had some degree of misalignment. Of that, I only correct the smallest misalignments by lapping- generally, it's a new set of rings and/or bases until the points of the lapping dies get close enough that you really have to look at them a while...
I hear what you're saying. The problem is that what I posted is not exaggerated or sensational- it is just a series of facts. Lead is a carcinogen, and shooting big game animals with lead bullets introduces it into your food and the environment. If that sound like a personal attack, perhaps it's...
The data suggests otherwise. Here are two of the most recent studies showing that lead is prolific throughout game meat harvested with lead bullets from centerfire rifles, and that much of it makes its way into the food chain. By this point, there are decades of science showing this.
The...
I suppose it depends on your perspective. Both kill just as effectively, so what's the argument to be made for using something that causes your food to be saturated with carcinogens and dispense toxins into the food chain every time you fill a tag? Saving a few cents per round?
The fact that many people's knee jerk reaction is to resist change, no matter how good the reasons for it are. Lead bullets are, plainly, outdated technology. Look at the "ELD-X failures" thread or any of the articles about raptors suffering acute lead poisoning during hunting season... these...
Looking for a high end composite stocked, stainless or cerakoted .30-06 a la Fieldcraft or M70 Extreme Weather SS. Shoot me a PM if you've got one taking up space you'd be interested in turning into cash and/ or trade bait! thanks in advance.
Appreciate everyone's support- as an update, our voices are being heard.

This was exactly my experience in J. I covered a ton of ground and was out before sunrise and after sunset every day with really nothing to show for it, and talked to a bunch of other guys hunting public who said the same. That's awesome you filled your antelope tags, though!
Lessons learned...
Nice shooting man. Which deer tags did you have, if you're comfortable sharing? I hunted a second choice general tag in 2020 for five days and saw over 40 does without a single legal buck... then watched a dude kill a massive 4x4 right over the boundary onto private my last night out. Last time...
Got thoroughly beaten by almost every variety of Kodiak weather for five days, saw a high pressure system moving in and told the transporter to push our pickup 8 hours right... ended up being the right call.
I tried the LRX in my Savage Ultralight with mediocre results from a quick ladder. Went to the 124 Hammer Hunter and got 1/2 MOA groups right off the bat, so that's where I'm staying.

I want to agree with this, but the problem is that, like it or not, people like this with huge online presences represent our sport to the general public, lawmakers, etc. So unless we want to be in the same regulatory pool as them... it's kind of incumbent on us as responsible hunters to push...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S22. When my phone is in airplane mode, the property ownership lines disappear after I open the app two or three times, even with offline maps downloaded and property ownership very much selected in the "layers" library. Don't come back until I get LTE or 5G service, either
Whether we like it or not, the world of hunting is at a crossroads that will determine much of its future. Every year recently, there are more and more PR disasters for our sport. Many are smaller; some are severe enough to make national headlines. The common theme is that this phenomenon is...
