It's always time to train. Did a leg workout yesterday and I'm feeling it today. 72 days until I head up the hill!!!!!!! That time will past fast. Time to get everything in tip top shape and ready to go.
I think your unit is a bit more remote but having as many people with you as possible to find the sheep and then judge the sheep is a huge plus. If you can't find a bunch of guys then try finding one guy that has experience glassing and judging sheep. Their help in the field will help more...
I would want to plan if possible. Think about how you could put some effort into an area before you put in for the tag. With a little luck you could have everything planned out before hand and make the adventure a bit easier. I have a buffalo tag that I can draw when I want to in AZ...
Love the NR that get cold feet!!!!!!!!! That is why I buy the tag day one........it is my priority. You aren't going to kill one of these sheep if this hunt is an after thought. Hell you might now kill one if this hunt is a priority.
I would recommend that you take it in the field and put some holes through paper. That is honestly the only way you will find out if your equipment will perform as you need it too.
You will lean a bunch from the .223. It will do great at 600 and under. The other good part about the .223 is it will drift plenty at that distance so you will learn how wind affects the point of impact of the bullet.
If you get the bug and shoot quite a bit then you can either reload the...
So I think I got my tag in the mail. Are we supposed to get paper tags this year? Last year my tag was bright yellow and looked really official. This year I have a piece of paper that looks pretty much the same but.......it just looks like a piece of paper. For $1250.00 you think it...
Let's be honest. None of it is that hard. All you have to do is put on a heavy pack and hike strait up for miles and miles while seeing every type of weather available in the beartooths. Not seeing the problem here.
Hey that sounds like a good time too!!!!!
I would think that about 50% of the normal hunters fall into this category anyways. Most really don't apply themselves to hunting........Some spend quite a bit more time applying themselves to the bottle than hunting.
I'm excited because I have a tag!!!!!!! Can't wait. Getting prepared as I type. Should be another great adventure with tons of good stories, sore muscles, rub marks, broken gear.......should be a blast!!!!!!!
I'm from AZ. I put in for sheep and just happy to donate money to IDGAF. Maybe sometime I will get lucky and receive a tag........
To answer your question. It is never to early to ask and you should always dream about going on a hunt!!!!!!!
Good to know.
FYI - typical hunter results below
Harvest statistic..........somewhere between very low and impossible.
Hunter days in field taking rifle for a walk...........LOTS!!!!!
That is interesting. So you are saying that if 100 people apply for the unit and only 50 people purchase the tag.......then they report 100 tags for the unit? I'm the type of guy that just bought the tag when I applied so do they count me even though I didn't "apply"? Good info. Sure...
