Thanks for that. I see the odds are now available. Interesting to see the elk unit I am looking at only jumped about .5 of a point. Next year I will have 2 more points than it took to draw this year. I'm really surprised the point creep wasn't more with the R / NR split changes. Edit -...
Does anyone know when the draw odds are published?
Just points for me and my son this year but very interested this years odds as looking to burns some CO points in 2025.
Well done on drawing a tag. I will be further to the west of you with a Gen tag.
Like you I have thought about the deer and antelope draw. Decided to put my son and I in for hard to draw Antelope tags, not too worried if we draw or not.
Ok, probably not a proper statistical description but by my reading 5 points was 100%, 100% and 93% so pretty close :)
Good point about trying in the random pool, and may do this in future. Not that's its a big deal but when I apply I also get hit with $NZ - $US - $NZ exchanges so try and not...
Very interesting to see the NR standard General draw odds, in the points part of the draw, almost identical across W, S and E.
With zero points I can't see me drawing another WY bull elk tag. But very happy with the 4 bull elk tags I have drawn.
My Western hunting goal was to hunt elk with my bow as a 'hunt of a life time'. Now I'm on to my eight trip this Oct.
I hope to hunt as many states as I can - done MT, ID, WY, CO, AB. And looking to add UT, AZ, OR and NM over the next few years with my son.
Here in New Zealand I try and...
Plenty of options for hunting, but don't know anything about fly fishing. I'd guess if you wanted to do both anytime in the spring - autumn would work.
I spent last week chasing rutting tahr on the West Coast of New Zealand. Friend shot his first tahr (nice 12 inch, 8 year old bull) and another friend from AZ that I took along shot two chamois and a bull with his bow. Here's a few pics of the scenery.
