    Partitions or SSTs should work. I'd probably lean SSTs. A 90 grain ballistic tip would be another good option.

    A lightweight bolt action rifle with a short barrel, sure. An actual “Scout rifle” seems like some prepper/Jeff cooper LARPer ideal that doesn’t have much for real benefits though.

    Anymore I don’t long to hunt with anything bigger than a short action 6.5 but more so even a 243 or 6 creed. Seems like you’ve got it covered. If the 243s or 7 HT walk off with the kids, just get another 243, 6 creed, 6.5 creed, or 7 HT. Buy more ammo, better glass, better rangefinder, etc.

    Maybe? I don’t have a huge sample size to compare with but the only factory rifle I’ve seen with obviously wrong headspace was a savage 308 that was short and wouldn’t chamber factory ammo. The instructors in that particular class mentioned it wasn’t the first or second time they’d seen that.

    It could be but I don’t think you get any extra assurance in getting that with a savage vs anything else (ok, maybe better than Christensen?) but at least it’s adjustable. Side benefit of taking a cost cutting measure to not have to machine proper headspace in a barrel.
