    Statistics for differentiating between groups?

Am I missing something? Both the Wilcoxon Rank Sum and the T test measure the difference in means, which for group size is not relevant (one can always adjust their scope, after all). The F-test, and hopefully the multivariate version I'm hoping for, measure the difference in variance, which is...

    Statistics for differentiating between groups?

Lol guys. Just pretent I said a 20 shot group and let's move on.

    Statistics for differentiating between groups?

5 shots can tell you plenty, sometimes. If one load shoots 5 shots into the same hole and the other load shoots a 6 MOA group, every reasonable shooter would (and should) conclude that the first load is better. Conversely, no reasonable shooter would (or should) assume that a 3/4" 5 shot group...

    Statistics for differentiating between groups?

Hey folks, This is a very nerdy stats question. Apologies. I'm a research and data professional at my day job, and I've had a passion project in mind for awhile to write up an article on using statistical inference for choosing ammo (this would apply to both choosing between factory ammo...

That's... not as bad as it gets for me 😅

Hammer Bullets - what makes them so great?

For my part, Hammers give excellent terminal performance (at least on the 2 elk and 1 bear I've taken with the 131gr Hammer Hunters from my 7mm08), downright surprising muzzle velocities, and very good manufacturing consistency. Add on supporting a small local business that has managed to...

Talk me out of a Savage Accufit Stock...

I normally stray away from political discussions, but since I'm the OP and I'm an economist by trade, I'll offer a few thoughts: The people of China are not our enemies. I totally get this isn't what folks are trying to say, but it's vital to keep this perspective nonetheless. The government...

I thought it was a trick......

Yeah I'm quite delighted by the performance of the 140 factory etips in my rifle. I'm super green at reloading and was working with borrowed equipment (I currently don't have a press), but the best I could do was ~1.5 MOA. More than accurate enough for hunting, and I'm getting ~3000 fps with...

I thought it was a trick......

Definitely. My post was poorly phrased; I meant incentive not to load my own etips specifically. I'll be resusing all the brass from the factory ammo eventually in hand loads 👍🏻

Beginner Guide to Reloading - What equipment did you upgrade early on?

This thread is gold, especially for someone like me who's done a little loading with a borrowed setup, and currently saving towards my own. I had planned to get a FA M-Press but y'all have me thinking the RCBS is a better long-term option. The only thing I have to add is to echo that when I...

I thought it was a trick......

For 7mm-08 I've been wondering the opposite, i.e. why they're even trying to sell components when I can buy loaded ammo for so much cheaper. As of this writing, 140g 7mm e-tips are $1.50/ea and new brass is $1.92/ea on Nosler's website. Meanwhile, I just bought 3 boxes of loaded ammo with those...

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

I have three shelters I use for hunting: If it might rain, I use my tarp (SG SkyAir if I'm solo or Black Diamond BetaLite if I'm sharing). If it's probably going to rain and it's at/above freezing, I use my Hennessy Hammock. If it's probably going to rain and it's below freezing, I take my tent...

    Tent/sleeping bag help?

7lbs is toooo heavy. Depending on your budget, there are lots of great bags on the market that will be ≤3lbs. I can't speak to the specific weather you'll be facing, but I can tell you that most people carry way more insulation than they need between jackets, layers, and sleeping bags. I...

Who panics and presses that little orange button the most?

Having said that, yes, please donate to your local SAR teams! And please carry an InReach or similar. Those little things save so many lives it's crazy.

Who panics and presses that little orange button the most?

Y'all. Stop. Search and rescue services (in western states, at least) are free. These services are provided almost exclusively by teams of volunteers who do not get paid -- they're just outdoorsmen and women who care about their neighbors and want to give back...

Talk me out of a Savage Accufit Stock...

Well, y'all didn't talk me out of it 😅. It took some hunting but I was able to secure a new accustock (with the appropriate bottom 'metal' and adjustment hardware) for a little under $200 so I went for it. I will update with the results once everything comes in and I get a chance to test it out.

Talk me out of a Savage Accufit Stock...

p.s. I realize there's a bit of gunsmithing involved in getting my rifle into the accufit stock; swapping out or modifying the lug is no big deal for me.

Talk me out of a Savage Accufit Stock...

Hey folks, I've been trying to find ways to cheaply upgrade the stock on my Savage 116 Lightweight Hunter, and I'm a bit torn between getting a new-but-second-hand Accufit Accustock (≤$250 with aics bottom metal) and an MDT Field Stock ($299+tax&shipping). Both come with weight penalties...

Are 4 season tents needed for mid-season (October-early November)

We don't. The new version comes with bug mesh sewn in to the bottom of it - it works great, for better or worse (you have to trade some ventilation/condensation performance for bug protection when you sew it on to the bottom...).
