The outfitter that I was scheduled to hunt with passed away this spring. Spoke to his family to forward my condolence. They have scheduled for me to hunt Molakai July 5&6. Will have to fly from Maui to Molokai and stay overnight. Another considerable $$$$ outlay. Scheduled flights and stay at...
Too many have not thought long ahead to keep their stocks up. Finding 160 Accubonds has been equated to finding the holy grail as of late. You may find that Hornady 162 SST are a good match. These shoot to nearly same point of impact to my loaded 160 Accubonds. Found the 162 SST at Scheels. MTG
Painting the Tupperware, composite, stocks is not a big deal. One must be sure to degrease well and not touch prior to painting. I always tape action and bbl. channel. Allow paint to fully dry. Krylon spray paint is very compatible to composite stocks. A good primer coat is essential. Then, if...
I do not delude myself thinking I will draw a sheep tag……ever In MT. Quite frankly my age is a factor and perhaps may or may NOT apply next year. It depends on how I feel and my health at age 76. I have drawn and harvested a nice mountain goat. So, perhaps it would be a grand gesture to bow out...
No joy anyway. BUT, after all the years of applying I could truly understand those that did draw and were told they did NOT could become very angry. Crap! Seems someone needs to audit that office. Someone isn’t doing their job. Tough going for those that drew and will be denied. MTG
Drawing Moose, sheep or mountain goat tag anywhere within the lower 48 would be like winning the lottery. BUT, Montana has unlimited tag zones that a tag can be had. But, again another but, there is a quota for these zones and these zones are wilderness zones. I have accompanied a friend that...
What truly amazes me is that MTFWP have not fazed out accrued bonus points without informing the public. Heck, they have the money we spent on these points and in their benevolence could merely say….oh, we stopped doing that! Would not surprise me in the faintest. I still have accrued points...
I make my own targets out of white cardboard with 1” orange dots. Very easy to see hits at 100 yds. My hold point is 6 o’clock as I have trouble centering. Works for me. MTG
Even with the longer neck it is not an issue to chamber. If necessary necks can be trimmed to length required. I anneal after two firings to avoid work hardening the brass. For that matter each and every caliber that I load gets same treatment. Brass life is essential and brass has gotten darn...
I have necked up .243 Lapua brass to .260 and fire formed successfull. I load 120 grain BT and 130 grain VLD. Both shoot extremely accurate out of my 260 AI, 24” Lilja, SS bbl. This is on a Rem. 700, Mountain rifle platform. It has accounted for many a critter.
I have loaded 107 grain Sierra...
Just mounted second set of Nexen AT Pro8 on my 2000 Pathfinder. These are load range “E” 265/75R16 tires. Yes, the front tires do rub. But the handling, tire wear, on road/off-road capabilities are great. My Pathfinder has 180,000+ miles on it and I’m keeping it! MTG
Got the FWP call Saturday. Real surprised it came on the weekend. Nice lady asked if I hunted elk this past season. Explained that I was sick with bronchitis and had to eat all my tags. Tag soup if you please. She was very nice and said with hope this next season will be different. MTG
