PRC=Profit Reaping Cartridge.
I'm glad I didn't jump onto that bandwagon.
Lots of previously owned 7PRC rifles for sale. Many of them "custom".
Lots of owners b####ing about the velocity.
Handloaders trying to get the velocity are running into over pressure issues.
I'll keep my 7mm Rem...
I got one of the Lansky knife sharpener kits years ago.
Works really well for knives and razor blades.
I use it on my Magnus Black Hornet Ser-razors.
Only 2 shops within 50 miles carry Magnus. The one wanted $55 for a 3 pack of the single bevel.
The other has them for $46.
So I picked up a...
The local distributor/wholesaler has the full line of Vihtavouri that is running comparable or slightly less price wise than Hodgdon powders.
When's the last time you heard that? Lol
I was looking at QL for a powder that I have to match the velocity of Unique. All I have is Alliant Blue Dot...
And I appreciate it!!
I tried the 7828, like you suggested. Shoots well.
But I've gone to Ramshot LRT.
If you can find some, it may work well for the 270 WBY you just got.
@perma,
I picked up a German made Mark V Deluxe in "Weatherby 300 Magnum".
Deluxe stock with the receiver engraved...
So is it just me, or are Weatherby Mark V's like potato chips?
You can't have just one.
I went 38 years of hunting without one.
Then within about 8 months I have 3.
Then @golfer sends me a picture of a nice 270 WBY at a good price.
Such a tease. Lol
Single digit SD isn't the end all, be all.
As @Chingon said, what does your target tell you?
When I first started loading, I'll admit, I was worried about too much pressure. So my loads were very low.
And kicked like a son of a gun!
Turns out too low, and you get unwanted pressure spikes...
I have a distributor/wholesaler that is local and has really good prices.
So the Missouri are readily available and cheap.
Already running Missouri Bullets in 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 38 SPCL, 30 Carbine.
Alas, my Henry isn't a lever action.
Henry Single Shot Brass in 45-70.
For now I'm going with a 300gr Sierra JHP over a charge of Vihtavouri N130.
Perhaps next year I will give Missouri Bullets a go.
I had bought a Rossi R243 for my wife.
I had gotten a good deal on several boxes of 105gr Hornady Match bullets.
I called tech line for Hornady.
Tech told me that "no, they will not stabilize with a 1:10 twist".
Figured I'd load them up and at least it would be time behind the trigger...
@wtrfwlhunter,
I'm thinking about doing one on either the Savage 111, or Savage Axis II action.
I used a 111 action to build my 257 Roberts AI.
I'm using the factory 111 stock on it with the hinged floor plate.
Myself and a friend of mine have used Boyds Stocks on several builds. Not the...
When talking with a Hornady tech on their help line, he told me that a "1:10 absolutely will not stabilize their 105gr Match bullet in a 243 Win".
I'll be polite and say that he was mistaken.
Shooting them proved them to be very accurate.
I'm the hunter of the family.
I didn't have any firearms handed down to me.
That said, I do have several in the safe at my mother's house.
Almost every rifle at my house is used for hunting.
Update.
Well, it appears that soaking the limb bolts with penetrating oil worked.
Tried to turn them today, and they turned fairly easily.
I'm still going to put this on a scale to find out what the original draw weight is.
