Ok, I guess first things first.
The front of the Evostrike being "frangible" would give it the characteristics of a Hammer or Cutting Edge bullet.
In other words, not a bad thing at all!!
Every reloading manufacturer has "starter kits".
Who's kit you get is totally dependent upon your...
@Eagle376,
If you have a rifle that only likes 2 types of ammo, I really think it's time to start reloading!
You can find accurate loads for your rifle with a little bit of work.
I reload for 4 different 7mm Rem Mags. Everything from 100gr Sierra HP Varmint through 175gr ABLR.
Of the 2 you...
That didn't sound good...😳
I think a large part of the issue is with the straight grip & comb, my face is low on it to align with the sights.
I'm having issues with seeing the sights to begin with.
Thinking about putting a rail and a green dot on it.
Something like this...
With Varget it's not bad.
It's probably better to do load development when it's hot out, than when it's cold.
Do load development with powders like H223, and you'll over pressure when it's hot.
Ouch!! #$@€%!!!
Bad words, Bad words!!!
Shooting the Henry Single Shot the other day, I either had my grip hand or my face in the wrong place.
Squeezed the trigger and my thumb came back and slammed into my nose.
Luckily not broken, but man does a nose bleed!!!
After the bleeding stopped, I...
Depends upon who you ask.
According to my wife, way too many.
Personally I have another 10 or so that I'm always keeping an eye out for.
I really need to start completing the builds that I have done.
Optics, better stocks, trigger work.
@406bert,
Since it is an obscure cartridge, Winchester only does one or two small runs a year.
Don't be afraid to neck up 243WSSM. I had to do that when I was running low last year.
@Sheltowee,
Yeah, it's a neat little cartridge.
Problem is that only Winchester makes cases. And as...
I'm not saying that they aren't.
I watched my friend buy a box on our way to the range.
When we were done he handed me the box of cases.
When I got home I put them in my scrap brass bucket.
Just one of my many quirks.
Hopefully 75lbs in the freezer. 😉
In all seriousness, I've never been worried about a score.
Would I pass it up if it walked in front of me?
Ah, no...
But if I shot a smaller one, I'd still have a smile on my face while I was butchering.
The old adage of "antlers are only good for stirring...
The 6.5 STW is simply the 8mm Rem Mag necked down with no other changes.
Hence it would be slightly longer than the 6.5-300 WBY.
Either way you look at it, they will both push a bullet fast.
Well, I had to check.
You didn't say what model of Weatherby you have.
A Mark V, until within the past 10 years or so were 1:10 twist.
Within are 1:9.5.
Barnes lists their 200gr LRX as needing a 1:10.
Wanting to see what others are saying, I checked Cutting Edge and Hammer.
Cutting Edge...
From what I've heard, and has not been verified.
But whomever is making the powder for Vista is supposedly having issues getting nitrocellulose.
Vihtavouri makes their own nitrocellulose to better ensure their quality control.
Already too rich for my blood!😄
I am interested in learning more about it though as I never knew Shilen made complete rifles.
Almost looks like a Ruger action.
Yeeeeeahhhhh.....
I'm absolutely certain that these put a scope at the right level for your eye.
NOT!!
I've been shaking my head since the 1980's at these.
If you ever see a set on a rifle that I own, please kick me in the coconuts!! 🤪
270 & 30-06, yeah.
Personally I won't buy "once fired" magnum brass.
Been bitten by that once.
Supposed once fired and the primers just dropped into the pocket.
The only people that I have heard say that are benchrest and F Class shooters.
With the specialty bullets that they shoot, the load to 0.010-0.060" "into the lands".
Let's face facts, while they may be setting their COAL to that, when they chamber a round it's at the lands. Your not going to...
