I've never heard of doing MPBR at a specific range before. I do MPBR with a big game rifle at an 8" target. Usinf my 243, 25-06. one of my 6'5's or the 30-06 it works out real well. bullet never rises above 4" over line of sight ad shows the drop when the bullet goes 4" below. None of my...
Forgot to ask, Is Toad creek store still open in the Yukon? They used to have a bunch of wolf hides for sale there. It got it's name by the first people to cross it. They had to tow their vehicles so named it Toad Creek!
Have made the trip several times. Up on the Alcan and back down the Cassiar. cassiar is or at least was more remote at one time. First time down on it, kt was a dirt road. When you get north of the Yukon a way's you should see a place on the left sheep Mountain! Building has, or had, mounts for...
I don't think there's much of anything I don't like for no good reason. With equipment the turn off for me is generally either looks or even worse, customer service. Two company's I'm pretty much done with are Sears and Garmin. Problem being those two company's have the absolutely worst customer...
After the customer service I got from Garmin over a 430 tracking collar, I doubt I'll ever spend money on Garmin again. Only service I've ever seem as bad was Sears trying to get a part for my sears lawn mower. Companys with crap customer service should do every body a favor and simply shut...
That looks like a pretty nice SxS but that Weatherby name like it is just turns me off. I didn't know Weatherby made any shotguns much less a SxS with double triggers. If they'd change that name on it to script and not fill it with gold and somewhat smaller that would really look nice to me...
Had a 243 restocked to 260 This past year. Wanted a 250-3000 but couldn't get good answers on where to find cases so went with the 260. Was a good move I think! Bullet's around for pretty much anything you want to hunt and low recoil. Very very accurate. Doesn't hurt a thing that I'm a 6.5 fan...
Well now I'm confused! Think I'll simply keep doing what I do and hope it keeps working. I zero about 3" high at 100 yds then shoot different ranges to see where I am. Those turrets like that were made for people that really know how to shoot!
Been a long time since I've actually went out and targeted quail but have one of two gun's I'd use. Probably first would be my CZ Bobwhite in 28 ga, really like my double triggers. Second or maybe first would be my AyA 28ga. Really got into SxS's over the years. Come to thinkof it I might eve...
Actually, weight retention kills by allowing the bullet to penetrating deeper into the animal and reaching the right place. I think weight retention has little else to do with it other than delivering more Ft Lbs of energy at the target.
I have never heard of evostrike bullet's and certainly never seen any of them so my vote it for the Hornady. When I had a 7mm Rem Mag the best shooting bullet was the 160gr Speer Hot Core. Next was the 154gr Hornady Spire Point. I don't follow all the new bullets to closely but tell you what...
Well let's see. A 243 I seldom hunt with, a 25-06 that somehow has gone to visit my son with my old 660 Rem in 308 and my Charles Daly 12ga SxS.
Had two 243's but one is now a 260 Rem. Wonderfully accurate.
6.5x55, mod 70 I got hoping my grand daughter would hunt someday but not happening...
I'm not sure my scopes have turret's that really are turrets. Both Redfield and Vortex have an adjustment knob you un-screw and move the adjustment mark to zero then screw back on. The Redfield has a ring under the adjustment knob you move with a small screw driver or pocket knife then reset the...
No ya don't. Got my first bear and got the truck right up to it. Tail gate down and tried for half hour to get it up there and terrible time doing it. Was like trying to lift a 150 pound bag of water!
Only ever shot one Antelope and got it with a 25-06 and 117gr Hornady SP. Good accurate load and less recoil than a lot of other's. Wouldn't even consider a magnum anything. Small animal! Miss place the shot a bit with a magnum and you could wipe out half the animal! Can't be more than about a...
Way I understand it, nobody takes home game meat. All goes to locals. I wonder if they eat Elephants and Rhinos too.
My dream for a lot of years was to hunt Africa but have never come close to being able to afford it. Then my desire turned to photographing African game but a brother did it with...
