A new low recoil deer rifle

I was thinking a 6.5 Grendel with either a break or suppressor would be the ticket. Of course same idea with 243, 6mm or 6.5 Creed would be good too.

1st Antelope Hunt - Check me

Agree that you can probably drop the spotter and take a rangefinder or check with the outfitter to see if they have one. You'll likely tag out within the first couple hours or at least be in a position to. After that is when the beer comes into play. Whiskey is always good too. ;)

If you were going on a non-hunting/fishing backcountry trip, where would you go?

I can't imagine going into the backcountry without at lease carrying a fishing rod. I have thought about taking a week in late august going to Flatt tops in Colorado and fishing some of the small lakes and ponds that abound there. I did similar around Trapper lake, north of Gunnison a few...

What Fly Rods And Reels Do You Use?

I have a couple TFO 4 pc rods in 3wt and 5wt with a couple different reels. Those are my traveling rods and I left the 3wt at my buddies place in Fairbanks. Beyond that I have a couple Sage set ups in 4wt and 6wt. I know I have an 8wt but not sure what it is without digging it out.

    Fine tuning.

I'd lock in that IMR load and call it a day. I used to chase accuracy like an OCD loon but realized the Law of Diminishing Returns applies for hunting loads. If you get MOA or better, call it and save components.

    Small/mid-size trucks, best all around

If it were me, I'd look at Frontiers and Taco's. I've had both and currently drive an 18 taco. If I were in the market for a new mid size, the taco would get traded on a Frontier. That said, when the time comes, I'll mostly likely go with a Titan Pro4X.

Life without a cell phone or debit card

I'm in the same boat as others regarding the internet. I work from home mostly and looking at another position that is 100% remote. Other than for work, I'd be delighted to get rid of my phone. I always have cash on me and have some emergency funds in cash in my safe. I try to use my Amex...

    Cheer me up boys…

I had a partial tear (~50%) of my ACL in my early 40's that caused me to spend 6 weeks in a brace and 8 weeks PT. Took almost a year to fully recover but was back to 100%. Also destroyed my ankle on kodiak a couple years later that required full reconstruction. Snapped ligament replaced with...

Small 4x4 truck with best fuel economy?

Fwiw, my 2018 taco with leveling kit gets around 16mpg. My wifes 2019 stock taco gets close to 19mpg. Unless you have to have truck, I'd look at a rav4 or similar small suv.
