    Hunting and Bipolar

It takes a lot of courage to share your story and I appreciate it. We need to get rid of the stigma around mental health. Take care. Thank you.

Your Experiences hunting after a Hard Winter

It takes more than a one-in-a-century winter to stop Buzz! :)

Your Experiences hunting after a Hard Winter

THAT was a brutal winter. I can't account for antler size, but yeah lots of dead deer in the roads. If they didn't starve, they got hit by cars. I remember seeing more wolves and lions than usual the next year, but their numbers dropped subsequently. Rebound took 3-4 years.

Hot off the Press: Field Guide To Raising Hell

Hey all. I wanted to let you know about the new book I've just written. It's called Hunter & Angler Field Guide To Raising Hell. It is a primer to successful conservation politics, from a hunter/angler perspective. It's basically lessons I have learned in 25 years in the conservation trenches...

    Just wow new record Roosevelt

    1) Amazing bull. (2) "Arrow" is not a verb. I don't say I "bulleted" an elk. (3) Do we have to name elk? Isn't it enough to name whitetails?

    Conservation groups joining fees

You are 100 percent correct that $35 doesn't go as far as it did. But I think a lot of groups understand that many live on tight budgets, too, and want to be welcoming to those folks. At the same time, they may provide more "levels" of membership ("partner," "sustaining", "life", etc.) and...

School me on rooftop cargo carriers

One more observation. I almost ruined the thing driving into a friend's carport. I just forgot it was up there and didn't think about how low the entrance of the carport was. Dear Wife stopped me just in time. This, however, says more about me than the box itself.

School me on rooftop cargo carriers

I would warn of one problem: it has these very clever four clamps that attach to the cross bars. All well and good on the highway. However, after two weeks of exploring terribly rough mining roads in the Pioneers, one of the clamps came loose. I caught it but there was some internal damage to...

School me on rooftop cargo carriers

I have a Thule box and it works well. Good latch, opens from both sides. I probably could take it off and on myself but haven't tried. I have not had trouble with leaking, but would not be surprise if i got moisture inside in very wet, slushy weather and road conditions. We've had above average...

    Glacier NP trip

i am saddened by the need for permitting, but i get it. i miss the old days when i could have an evening hike in Glacier after work. It was pretty damn cool. I also agree the current system is a mess. I think Rep. Zinke would be in a good position to provide improvements, but he seems more...

POLL: when was the last time you went to a drive-in movie?

First Spiderman movie when it was new. Also I remember watching Death Hunt in Guadalajara Mexico in 1983 from a high-rise hotel next door to the drive-in. Too far to hear the words but they were dubbed in Spanish anyway. You could follow the movie just fine without any sound and that's the mark...
