    Sunday Pic of the Day

She hunted great today. For being a week shy of 6 months, she’s a rockstar. But then again, like 20 minutes ago she ate the bath mat while I was in the shower. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    MT opener

I try to never hunt the rifle opener if I can help it, unless I’ve drawn something special. I guess the last time I did hunt it, I killed a bull. Good luck to everyone going out today.

    Sunday Pic of the Day

Early morning stop at my favorite coffee shop before pheasant hunting and they gave us free pup cups 😂 Nice cool-down in the slough.

What is your single top hunting season goal this year? I expect updates damn it.

Update: bought a ND NR archery tag so I can continue to work on the archery goal with the longer season if I can sneak away from work when I’m over there. I’ve seen deer nearly every time I’ve been out, but only the fawns give me shots 😂 Having fun with it. Then at home, waiting for the zoo...

'Yotes: What to do with carcusses when pelts have little value?

I don’t shoot them unless I’m going to skin them. If they aren’t worth anything, I tan them to make stuff. I throw those carcasses in the dumpster…no big deal. If people don’t want to skin them, I wish they would just leave them where they fell. Dumping a big pile of them somewhere out on...

Do I Need a New Taxidermist?

Man, seeing the kill pic I have to agree… looks low there too. So after seeing that, the mount looks very accurate to me. But honestly, my first thought on your original post was that it was a great looking mount, fwiw. Deer are a lot like people…we think we’re all perfectly symmetrical but...

Gloves - Best for late season pheasants.

I also wear the same unlined leather gloves I wear the rest of the season usually. I may add a thin merino liner underneath if it’s really cold. If I wear just the merino, the fabric on the end of the thumb always gets jammed with the shell when I’m reloading. That’s what I get for shooting a...

It’s had more range time this summer than anyone else. 😁 Can’t wait to chase deer.

    Sunday Pic of the Day

Spent the morning at the range with the day gun, the night gun, and the elk gun. Felt easy today. Ready to go.

Couldnt roll my eyes any harder

Curious how the documents establishing these areas are written. I find it interesting the plaintiffs are using “conflicts with the multiple-use concept of management” as one of their arguments. I would think a state wildlife area has no such mandate - similar to USFWS properties. If these areas...

My birdfriend's back and they're gonna be in trouble (Hey la, hey la, my birdfriend's back)

Love these threads. But now I have some mundane questions…. How is the GPS attached? Necklace? Backpacks? I imagine you have to abide by normal bag limits? Do you ever hunt waterfowl? If not, why? Saw two peregrines while out working last week, which is always a treat. Don’t see them that...

The knowledge you shared is the most valuable thing you could have given him. I think you probably made a life-long impact on that young man.
