Tell me about your obscure cartridge

Ruger/Marlin is going to be making the 35 Remington. I’m thinking I need one. Finding ammo is the biggest concern though. The rationale part of my brain says it’s not worth it and just stick with the 30-30. But since when do rifle rifles and rational thinking go together??? Haha.

Bowhunters - not a big impact?

The OP was citing FWP numbers. The other numbers being thrown around are not verifiable at all. Not disagreeing with you but what numbers are we supposed to trust? Hate to beat the dead horse again but until FWP starts using real data people are going to go off of what they see and hear. The...

Idaho Seeks to Limit Scope Turrets and Rangefinders

You’re right. I just never thought about that. So much tech taking the fair chase out of it that it’s hard to keep ahead of it.

Idaho Seeks to Limit Scope Turrets and Rangefinders

Hmmm. That’s interesting. It would be pretty handy here in the panhandle. Can’t see 30 yards. At least you’d know where they were…still have to get to them though. Haha I never thought about the thermal applications. Guess I’m old school now

Idaho Seeks to Limit Scope Turrets and Rangefinders

Ah, I understand what you’re saying now. I wasn’t thinking about scanning as much as thermal scopes. But since it’s illegal to use drones to locate game animals that takes care of the thermal scanning issue. I suppose you could scan using a hand held device from the ground. You’re probably...

Idaho Seeks to Limit Scope Turrets and Rangefinders

Thermal use is already regulated appropriately and clearly defined as to when and how they can be used. What about thermals in Idaho would you like to see addressed?

    Bullets for muzzleloaders

What I was trying to explain is that we are not allowed copper jacketed bullets of any kind or sabots. It has to be all lead bullets. The gas check on the powerbelts is legal though. Yep, there’s a lot of better options out there for sure.

    Bullets for muzzleloaders

Sabot and jacketed bullets are illegal here so Powerbelts are one of the best legal options.

    Bullets for muzzleloaders

The XTP will absolutely grenade into a thousand little pieces on an elk shoulder too. They do not hold together well

    Fur friendly caliber/.223 bullet

The cast bullets are problematic because they don’t expand. They act like an FMJ. That’s not good. My experience with FMJ and coyotes hasn’t been good.

    Shell holders for single shots?

Oh come on @Dave N quit being humble. We all know you got that single shot for a reason. You don’t need no stinking second shot. 😁

In Montana NR Hunters secured over 85,000 hunting licences.

Yeah, I get it. This has all been talked about over and over. Same song, different verse. Bla bla bla. Rather than beat this dead horse again I’ll just say “wow, that’s a lot of licenses to those damn NR that ruined everything” Better? Stop selling those NR tags and everything will be right...
