    The nicest hunters?

Alright so who takes the cake; I came to hunting later in life and largely been on the side of big game and have recently got more into upland and waterfowl. This last week I’ve run into a couple guys in the middle of nowhere Nevada chasing Chukar and I’ve gotta say they’ve been some of the...

    Spotting scopes

Binos on a tripod get you 85% of the way there. Spotter is necessary if you want to determine size, width, length etc. it’s a pivotal piece for that last 15% if you care about such things.

    Range on a GSP

Update, something has clicked these last two hunts and she’s ranging and hunting better than ever. Today we chased Chukar out in NV and in a low bird number area she found 2 coveys and a few others and pointed and held them without too much pressure. That plus she was ranging much further than...

    Nevada Chukar Hunting 2020

Had a great day out in NV, the dog had her best day yet (she’s one) hunted all day 8.5 miles for humans 29 for the dog and she pointed 2 coveys early and then a pair and single later. Not many birds out there based what sign we saw in the fresh snow but great day.

    Nevada Chukar Hunting 2020

Finally got into some birds south of the 50 in the desert mountains. The area was vast and empty. Or so I thought, came over a ridge and ran into another guy and his wirehair. Felt like two needles finding each other in a haystack. Fun times and gonna go back out tomorrow, just getting a light...

How to defuse a grizzly encounter peacefully?

Did a drop camp in AK for caribou and had bears in and around everyday. Always just made sure they knew where we were and 2x took warning shots when they got too interested in camp and they moved away albeit slowly on their own time. We had a sow and cubs around and we would hunt the other side...

    The great chukar quandary

Were they hanging on the clear south facing stuff/lower elevations where they didn’t have to scratch to get to the cheat grass or more in the white stuff?

    The great chukar quandary

I’m out in NV and so far not as many Chukar as advertised but it certainly looks great and there’s a lot of space so it int half bad. I’ll end the season as a spot back home I know holds birds but until then I plan to explore new areas
