First upland season for both (dog&human)

What’s different about the gwp and do you think it’s a breed thing or an individual trait? Did you have lab GSP crosses and how were those, bird machines, point, range, picture?

First upland season for both (dog&human)

I’ve found them pretty consistently in inyo county

First upland season for both (dog&human)

That’s interesting, I’ve found them to be the easiest to figure out, very habitual. They don’t have the same numbers in a covey but they seem to be in the same areas and enjoy the same type of habitat.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

What kind of dogs have you run over the years and have you gravitated towards a certain one? After all my one year of experience I like the idea of a pointer and or a setter except the hair.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

I’ve had a tough time patterning them. I’ve been to places where we saw 50+ birds and then 2 the next time. Nothing like quail

First upland season for both (dog&human)

I think if we ever stopped learning 1. We’d be wrong 2. It’d get boring. I have to slow myself down or I’d already have a pointer and be running two dogs. Luckily the wife helps with that.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

Appreciate the offer, and I will. What area is in your wheelhouse? As in OR, ID, MT. Also I welcome the hunting break but it hurts a little to read next fall.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

That’s funny about the quail and they do have a simile build. Right now Nelli comes in at about 40 lbs and has a light frame which works well in CA heat. The downside is a December duck hunt is pretty low on her list of things to do. If a situation presented where I could jump some on a sunny or...

First upland season for both (dog&human)

Haha no but my buddy I hunt with won’t drink anything else so there’s typically a few around. I’m down south in Fallbrook/N. County SD. How about yourself?

First upland season for both (dog&human)

Appreciate it, and as am I. I’d like to hit Montana again with a better weather window and hells canyon for the views.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

I appreciate it and you’re right, she really took to quail but had a hard time with Chukar. But seeing her learn and not apply as much pressure and stay steady or run through boulders after catching wind it definitely something else.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

Not sure if I’ll have another season this free so really taking advantage of it.

First upland season for both (dog&human)

So until this year I’d only ever previously dabbled in upland. But this year I went all in and we got a GSP pup, so it was our first season learning together. I sent her to get some training before the season when she was roughly 9 months and then we started sept 2nd. I hit the dove opener...

    Az Ban Trail Cams?

Which for these higher tier units is easier said than done and would likely get frustrating after bouncing from one area to the next. Its an interesting issue and I think that somewhere in the middle there’s a reasonable path forward, a season seems like a strong compromise.

Sell Me on What My Next Tent Should Be

Easy choice for me, two person hornet from Nemo. Lightweight, two vestibules, well made, not much more you can ask for.
