I prefer a synthetic puffy jacket to fleece or softshell. Puffys just deal with moisture better IMO. In terms of pants i like something lightweight that dries quick. I'd insulate with layers, and in kod in November I'd probably have both puffy pants and LJs along. Yes on bear spray.
Ha, yeah. I got my ass handed to me in the Wrangells this year.
At least I know my gear works and exactly how much moisture my sleeping bag can handle.😂
It is worth checking into the annual PFD sale as well. There is usually a sale timed with the oil check dispersal. Not sure if it will work for your dates, but there are great deals and the sale is fairly predictable.
I was pretty stoked to glass up some big white tines while looking for a bear this weekend. Not in a place I’d expect to find them: early succession glacial valley that must be a wind tunnel in the winter. Bear hunt turned into a shed hunt and I found two more nice sets.
This is exactly right. In my community we do not have a single ventilator. Maybe 5 test kits I've heard? Many elders, and extended families that live together in relatively small dwellings. It is not clear at all how the intra-state travel ban will be enforced locally. I think in the...
I'll throw a plug in for an OR 3 layer goretext as an all around rain jacket. Not because I think it is significantly better then similar products from Arcterxy Sitka etc. I have just had good experience with their warranty program. I'm not saying destroy it and send it back, but I had one...
I run Hughes net gen 5. I didn't get the minimum plan but the next step up. Honestly it works pretty decent. I can stream Netflix/prime all the time. I've never screwed with tokens or even really checked my bandwidth usage but I'm almost certain throttled back still lets me stream...
When I'm trying to make a call about what sleeping bag or layers to bring to an area I'm unfamiliar with I'll use.

Figure out the nearest station to where you will be hunting and look at the stats for the hunt period. Maybe subtract 10 degrees plus if you are going to...
I know several people who have done this hunt. They like it, some going back multiple years. Sounds like it is kind of a weird place though and windy. I believe you can get stuck pretty easy with the limited jet schedule and agro weather.
First Denali lama moose trip I've seen. Nice! I concur with those recommending simple fishing gear. Inlets and outlets on lakes. We were weathered out two days on trip this summer, and catching laker after laker sure passed the time.
