So I was fortunate to draw a spike elk tag in a newly open spike hunt (unit 222-223). I’m not planning on shooting the biggest legal spike I can find, and I’ve been in this unit a lot and see lots of true spikes. But I want to see how everyone translates the regulations on the definition of a...
I normally get at least one multiple cat trap check every season, but with a week left, I didn't think it would happen this season. Better late than never!
I've made meatballs once with bobcat but totally drowned out the meat in other stuff so this time I decided to give bobcat a real try. Had some buddies over. Watch to see what the verdict is on bobcat meat!
I’m going to get a nice camera after the season and a white light for my gun and try to film me calling and killing a lion this spring/summer/fall. I have a green scanning light and green gun light right now. It’s easier to see eyes with the green light, but since everything looks green when...
I just head on the Elk Talk podcast that Randy is offering to pay $10 for anyone who can’t afford $10 for youth bonus points. Add your kids up and send a bill. Just make sure to turn the podcast off right after you hear it so you don’t hear if it’s a joke or not or you may not receive your check!
I had the unfortunate experience of watching a bobcat walk past my cage trap on a trail camera. I was also able to get a big coyote, and kit fox, and get a new cat line set. I show more of what I look for when trapping bobcats, and how I set them.
I'm no expert at harvesting glands, but this is how I do it. I can normally make myself 8-16oz of gland lure every year. I still have to buy commerical lure, but its pretty neat to catch something with your own lure from animals you caught.
Queen. Yep, its a queen. And I learned that from my 5 year old haha. I had to verify to make sure it wasn't fake news, and he was right. I have no idea how he learned it, and his answer to how he learned it was "I just did, everyone knows that". Caught our first "Queen" of the season...
This season I made a goal to keep my cages traps going all season to try to get a bobcat. Well I didn't get them out till a month into the season, but have been making a point to keep them out and keep moving them with the rest of my line. Saturday I had the excitment of see the door down...
I've caught this member of the racoon family before but never had the chance to hear what they sound like till last night. Definitely a very intimidating sound coming from such a small animal.
I always take the opportunity to bring new people with me to check traps. I was able to bring my brother-in-law and nephew along with me to check on Saturday and they loved it, especially my nephew. Hope you enjoy.
