    Grocery handling tips - CV19

Thanks for posting that. It may seem a bit extreme but my health and the health of those around me are worth it.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

This is probably about the sanest response. I'm willing to bet ol' Warren has more savvy on when to buy, or not, than most and he has $128 Billion on hand to scoop up what he likes based on valuations not emotions. Smart move.

Doe Antelope Run Off Cliff By Off-Leash Dog

There's more antelope where that one came from. Nothing to get all tangled up over.

Gutless spine down or legs up?

All other things held equal I say from the spine down as this gets the hide off of the thicker portion of the animal faster and begins cooling.

    Showing appreciation

That just doesn't seem plausible to me. Do you think that you could go on a trip like that and not learn such fundamentals about the guy your hunting with? Have you ever run into a taxidermist that isn't so proud of his work that he's showing you his work every chance he gets?

    Showing appreciation

I won't elaborate on my issues. But I can 100% empathize with you on this. I was woken up to this relatively recently by someone who did show appreciation (small but clear gesture of thanks) among a small population of others who did not. And the person who made the clear gesture of...

The best investment advice you can get is from a hunting forum where nobody has a stake in whether you win or lose and don't much care.

    First DIY Antelope Hunt Advice

I tried it this past August in WY. Depending on the terrain and cover available it is very doable. I was able to get within 22 yards of a couple antelope and was at full draw before I realized they had cheek patches. I only had doe tags. We had several other opportunities spot and stalk but...

    Dogs and Chocolate

Glad fluffy is okay. About 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) will cause your dog to quickly regurgitate whatever he has swallowed. This would have been a perfect opportunity to apply that treatment. Its a handy thing to know. Check with your vet first to learn when and when not to use...

    Pet Peeves

I crossed paths with some hunters while in the Utah back country and in an effort to de-conflict I asked him if he was after any particular animals. He said, "Those ones on that ridge to the West. I looked at the western ridge and saw no ones, but I did see some cow elk, so I left him with his...

    2019 California Archery Bear

Congratulations. Just curiouse if you have an estimate on the weight of the bear? I was hoping to make my first bear hunt this year in X12, but injury put a stop to that. Maybe next year.

    Antelope meat

Keep it as cold as possible. I killed mine in 90 degree weather, gutted it and placed it in the cooler with a the chest cavity filled with ice and the rest of the animal surrounded by ice. Turned out just fine. If you can do as I did and add dry ice which will freeze the real ice and melt...

    Never Duck Hunted

Stay away from it. Its worse than crack, more expensive than owning a dog you love and ducks taste like garbage too.

    Been a great day!

Better make sure she didn't sell you the kind that fall over scared stiff when you startle them. That would be too damn funny, but not so much when your a couple miles in and that bear shows up.

Basics of elk hunting for a flat lander

In an effort to add something positive. It sounds like you have this thing researched on your own better than most beginners. Good for you. My contribution would be to skip the weekends and hunt the weekdays if that is an option for you. The change in hunting pressure is significant.

Favorite time of year to hunt them?

I suppose what I like about it is that is when all my freinds go, and there are antelope every-freaking-where and the weather is so unpredictable that its always a different hunt. Everyone is having a good time and telling lies. In my opinion, there is nothing difficult about filling an...

Favorite time of year to hunt them?

I suppose it depends on my goals. If I'm having fun with friends than the first week of October. This year I will be attempting spot and stock archery so I'll be going around 8/15 in the hopes they aren't all bunched up and the bucks aren't as mobile.
