I’ve started pricing it out, and I think we would be around 1K in fuel which is cheaper than a flight once you add extra baggage etc. Plus, we’d get to see new parts of the country and enjoy some solid windshield time.
I actually live in NY now, which shaves a few hours off the drive lol
I’m leaning toward driving due to logistics. It’d be a 24-36 hour drive each way. I’m a bit nervous about flying with my rifle and potentially meat. I’d hate to have my gun or a cooler full of buck meat misplaced by TSA.
Do you have experience flying for hunting trips?
If I buy a preference point this summer, will I lose it if don't apply for next years draw? Or can I just buy another point next year and apply for 2021?
Hey guys,
I'm planning for my first western hunt with a buddy of mine, and we are trying to decide what to do. We are torn between MT deer and WY antelope. What do you guys suggest?! What can we expect from either hunt (access, crowds, terrain types, game siting etc)?
For some background:
I've...
Ohhhh alright. This makes a lot more sense! So, instead of buying the “bonus” point this year I should have bought the “preference” point.
Looks like I’m buying both this year... live and learn.
I’ve never been out west and would like to see the country. I’m considering Wyoming and Idaho, as well. However, I’d love to take a solid MT whitetail, but need to do some research on what part of the state offers good whitetail hunting on public land.
I’m still pretty confused with MT point system and general deer tags. If I bought a bonus point for deer this year is that good for the general draw next year? Also, is a NR better off going for a general tag or a unit specific tag?
I recently purchased a tikka t3x hunter in 30-06. Personally, I find The weight is great and the gun is well balanced. Fits my frame well, but I’m not a very big guy.
The synthetic is nice too, but there’s nothing quite like a wood stock.
My old man hunts with his Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage. It's a beautiful gun and serves him very well in the Maine woods.
As a southpaw, the safety on it is a pain for me.
There's something badass about carrying that heavy lever gun though...makes me feel a little wimpy for carrying my...
How many miles have you run it for?
I’m thinking I’ll put a 1.5” rough country kit and keep with the 265/65/18 size tires (probably some toyo open countrys). I’m hoping the mild level and not oversizing the tires will keep the ride comfortable, fuel economy about the same, and save on the...
Hey guys,
I've been debating installing a 1.5" leveling kit on my 2013 silverado since the day I got it. However, I've gotten a lot of mixed messages about the pros and cons of a leveling kit.
I was considering a rough country leveling spacer kit, but a buddy of mine told me it's hard on the...
Ladies and gents, I’m new to the turkey hunting scene, and I’m already hooked! Great time of year to be out chasing gobbles and watching game.
I was wondering what people think about hunting turkeys in the rain.
Worth it or sleep in? (Either way, I’m going...)
Any strategies you guys like...
